Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #1520

Company 22 was dispatched to 414 South Second Street for a chimney fire. The temperature at time of dispatch was 98 degrees. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six, and Truck 22 responded with a crew of three. Lieutenant 22-1 arrived and observed heavy dark smoke coming from the chimney. He evacuated the occupants as the rest of the crew arrived. The crew found a blocked chimney caused from a faulty oil furnace. They cleaned the chimney, which was in very poor condition. The Borough code enforcement officer arrived on scene with the local police, and they determined that the furnace should not be used until it was serviced. The units on scene went available.
