Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #171

Engine 22 was dispatched to a chimney fire at 427 South Second Street in Lykens. Engine 22 responded, and on arrival observed flames and smoke coming from the chimney of a large 2? story brick single family dwelling. The crew split into two groups, with one laddering the building and going to the roof, while the other went into the basement, shut down the furnace, and removed the piping to the chimney. Chimney chains were run to remove hot debris from the interior of the chimney, and crews cleaned out the pipes from the basement. After re-connecting everything and turning the furnace back on, the company went available.
