Companies 22, 23, 24, 21, and Tower City Air dispatched class one for a reported structure fire at 406 Main Street in Lykens Borough. Chief 22 went responding and saw a smoke column from 3 blocks away. Engine and Truck 22 responded, each with 4, and on arrival had a 2 and one half story duplex home with heavy smoke showing from the C side extending to the second floor. An initial attack was made on two fronts, with the Engine 22 crew forcing the front door and entering from side A while Engine 23 came in from the C side and attacked the visible fire showing in the kitchen. A primary search was completed on the east side fire building and found no one inside. Mutual aid units began arriving and additional personnel were deployed to assist with fire suppression and checking the west side of the duplex for extensions. Control was marked, and extensive overhaul was started. Units remained on scene assisting Company 22 until they were released by command. PSP and FM-1 fire marshals were on scene. Engines 21 and 27 were added to the box to supply additional manpower, with Engines 32 in station 23 and Schuylkill Engine 650 in station 22 on standby. Medic 6 provided rehab.
