Friday, November 27, 1998, at 17:14, Dauphin County Station-22 (for an engine and BLS unit) and Station-23 (for a rescue unit) were dispatched for an accident with injuries in the Borough of Lykens at the intersection of Main and Edward Streets. BLS unit 6A responded from Station-22 immediately upon dispatch and arrived on scene in just over one minute. EMS Chief-22A, Jeff Shultz, reported that there were a total of four vehicles involved with only one injury and fluids on the roadway. Engine-22 under the command of Captain-22, Jim Hoffman, arrived approximately three minutes after dispatch. Rescue-23, commanded by Captain-23, Floyd "Short" Wertz, arrived one minute later. Members of both teams extricated the patient and assisted the local police department with scene traffic control and cleanup. Rescue-23 was released at 17:35 and Engine-22 cleared the scene at 17:55.
