Shirley Davis Burned Klingerstown, PA

On Thursday morning, May 17, 1934, four year old Shirley Davis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Davis, was playing with her sister Naomi and cousin Elsie in a small house near her home in Klingerstown when her clothing caught fire. Her father discovered the child in flames running from the playhouse and succeeded in smothering the fire only after burning his hands. The child was rendered first aid and rushed to Fountain Springs Hospital in Ashland. She died from her burns on Wednesday, May 23, 1934. |
