Honey Tree Brush Fire Millersburg, PA
November 14, 1952
On November 14, 1952 at 7:45 p.m. a fire was discovered at the foot of the Mahantango Mountain. The fire covered a quarter of an acre and burned brush, trees and a large dead stub. The Millersburg fire company responded. After putting water on the large stub, it was still smoking. So a fireman placed his hand in the stub to see if there was any heat. He immediately pulled his hand back out and found it to be covered with smoke-dazed stinging honey bees. The tree was full of spoiled honey. |
