Truck-22 was dispatched for a reported rekindle of the same building that was on fire a few hours prior to this call. Truck-22 responded with full crew and spotted at the same location as earlier, side-3 to the rear of the structure. Truck personnel assisted engine company personnel on scene with locating hot spots using Company-24's thermal imaging camera. After locating a 2 x 12 rafter in the second floor rear, east side, bedroom that showed hot embers deep inside the wood, a chainsaw was used to remove two feet of the beam from the structure and no further hot spots were found. Personnel assisted with cleanup, exited the structure, and were released.
2008
Automatic Fire Alarm, 15 South Second Street (Box 22-1)
Company 22 was dispatched to the Rattling Creek Apartments at 15 South Second Street for a reported alarm bell sounding from room 301. Chief 22-1 arrived on scene to find normal conditions, and was advised by County that a second call was reporting the alarm as false. He held Engine 22 in quarters until he investigated. After confirming that the alarm was false, he placed the box in service.
Truck 22 was dispatched to assist Company 23 with a chimney fire at 712 Mountain Sreet in Wiconisco. Truck 22 responded with a crew of six and was told to stage behind Engine 23. The truck crew staged on side-A while Company 23's crew investigated and found the chimney to be blocked. Truck 22 was released by Command 23 and returned available.
Company 22 dispatched on the first alarm to the rear of 140 Main Street in Elizabethville Boro for a working garage fire. Companies 21, 20, and 26 were on the initial dispatch, and Chief 21-2 reported fire visible from a mile out and upgraded to the first alarm, adding Engine 22, and Engine 29-1 for the RIT assignment. Engine 22 responded with 6, with a crew remaining in station for the truck and Utility. On arrival, the Engine staged behind Truck 20 and went to side A, where they were assigned to assist with ventilation and overhaul of what was now two garages well involved, with some extension into a third garage on the D side and a camper across the alley. Crews continued working until control was marked, and then were assigned to the manpower pool where they remained until released by command.
The 21-1 box dispatched for a working garage fire to the rear of 64 North Market Street in Elizabethville. Truck 22 responded with 7 and Engine 22 with 3. On arrival the crews staged their apparatus on Market Street and proceeded behind the residence to a 2 story metal garage building that was well off. Crews assisted with ventilation and extinguishment and later overhaul until released by command.
2021
Snow mobile accident, 5899 Powells Valley Road (Box 19-4)
Engine 22 dispatched as the next due engine for 19 on the 19-4 box to the parking lot at the top of the Lykens mountain in Jefferson Township for a snow mobile accident with injuries. Engine 22 responded with 6 and Utility 22 with 2, and were canceled moments after their response.
At the request of Medic 6 Company 22 dispatched class three to 153 Lawley Road in Lykens for a lift assist. Engine 22 responded with 4 and 3 additional members went to the scene POV. On arrival the crew assisted EMS with transferring the patient from the residence to their transport unit and then went available.
Engine and Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 23-1 box for a structure fire at 607 Pottsville street in Wiconisco township. Truck 22 responded with 5 and Engine 22 with 4. Both units were canceled by command 23 while enroute.
A vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Long Road and Route 25 in Lykens Township on February 22, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. A 1994 Plymouth Voyager driven by a 17-year-old man from Pillow was traveling north on Long Road and was unable to stop at a stop sign at Route 25. The Voyager slid into the path of an eastbound 1993 Dodge Shadow. Both vehicles were badly damaged. The driver of the Dodge, the driver of the Plymouth, and two passengers of the Plymouth, a 15-year-old girl from Gratz and a 16-year-old girl from Pillow were taken to Harrisburg Hospital where they were treated and released.
At 2:50 p.m. on February 22, 2007, Engine & Rescue 27 were dispatched to the intersection of North Crossroads Road and Route 25 for a vehicle accident with injuries. Engine and Rescue 27 both responded at 2:54 p.m., and arrived on scene to find a two vehicle crash, with one patient having minor injuries. The Engine and Rescue were placed available at 3:35 p.m.
A disastrous fire struck at Long Acre, in London, England, on the morning of February 22, 1905. Long Acre was the center for the manufacture and repair of motor cars and carriages. Hundreds of automobiles had just returned from an exhibition and were destroyed by the fire. Tenants also lost their homes, as the flats above the warehouse were also destroyed. The loss was $1,250,000.
