Engines 22 and 23 were dispatched to the rear of 527 Main Street, behind Helt's Furniture Store, for a reported pile of trash on fire on the rear loading deck. Engine 22 responded and upon arrival, found a pile of bed mattresses on fire, with fire starting to reach the overhead roof. Engine 23 arrived, and assisted Company 22 personnel with extinguishment. The entire deck area was overhauled and debris was removed to the alley. PSP was contacted to request a fire marshall by Chief 22. The companies were placed available by Chief 22.
Company-22 was dispatched for a report of flooding in the basement of 132 Main Street in Lykens. Chief 22-1 arrived on scene and found that a water valve supplying a washing machine in the basement had broken and was causing the flooding. The water line was shut off and secured prior to the arrival of Engine-22, which had responded with a crew of six.
Truck 22 was dispatched per the request of Chief 27 to assist Gratz with a tree into a structure at the intersection of Lubold School Road and Garden Spot Road in Lykens Township. High winds had caused a very large tree to fall into the home. Telephone and TV cable lines were also down. Truck 22 responded with a crew of seven, and Chief 22 responded POV. The truck was set up on the A/D corner of the structure and the crew went to the roof to assist with removal of tree limbs and sections of the trunk. Chain saws were used to cut up the tree for removal. The tree had penetrated the roof in several places, and the crew assisted with covering the roof holes with temporary patches. The Truck was also used in lifting the downed phone lines off the roadway, after which it was placed available by command.

Smoke in a Structure, 553 South Second Street (Box 22-1)
Local alarm assignment dispatched for a report of smoke in the structure located at 553 South Second Street in Lykens, the Company 22 club building. Chief 22 responded POV and assumed command on arrival. He held the box to company 22. The Engine and Truck responded and were on location from the station across the street. Crews packed up and went interior and found a strong chlorine smell throughout the first floor and basement. A cleaning company had been in the building earlier in the day. Crews ventilated the building after taking readings and the TIC throughout the building and finding nothing. Crews continued until released by command.

Medical Assist - Cardiac Arrest, 414 Pine Street (Box 22-1)
Engine 22 dispatched class one to 414 Pine Street in Lykens for a cardiac arrest AED call. Chief 22 responded POV and Engine 22 responded with 4. As the Engine arrived on scene, Chief 22 placed them available. There was no medical emergency at this location.
Company 23 and Engine 22 dispatched class one to the area of Pottsville Street and Maple Street for a brush fire. Chief 23 placed Engine 22 in service prior to response.
