A chimney fire was discovered in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Jacobs on South Street on the morning of Saturday, May 12, 1934. The fire was extinguished by the Lykens firemen shortly after its discovery. It was contained to the chimney and the damage was slight.

Medical Assist, 15 South Second St (Box 22-1)

Medical Assist for lifting, 620 South 2nd Street (Rear) (Box 22-1)
At the request of Medic 6-3, Company 22 dispatched class 3 to the rear apartment at 620 South Second Street in Lykens to assist with a patient lift. Engine 22 responded class 3 with three, and Chiefs 22 and 22-2 responded class 3 to the scene. On arrival, the crew assisted EMS with a patient that had slid out of bed and wanted to get up and into a chair. After successful completion of the task, the Company went available.
Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 27-3 box to 104 Pond Road in Lykens Township for a reported structure fire. Companies 27, 26, 28, 23 and Northumberland 65 also on the call. Truck 22 went enroute with 7 and was canceled shortly after response.
2019
Accident with no injuries, Main & Edwards Streets (Box 22-1)
At the request of Lykens PD Company 22 dispatched class three to the intersection of Main and Edward Streets for a two vehicle crash with no injuries. The Company was requested for traffic control and scene safety. Utility 22 responded with 4 and Chief 22 and one firefighter responded POV. On arrival, traffic was detoured at Main and Division and Main and West Streets. After tow companies removed the two vehicles the Company was placed available.
Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 26-3 box at 467 St. Johns Road in Mifflin Township for a barn fire. Truck 22 went enroute with 6 and was advised of a working fire. Flames could be seen as the Truck went through Loyalton. The Truck arrived on scene and staged on the hard road and sent crew back to assist with suppression activities until released by command.
The Lykens Borough Council approved the purchase of an electric siren to be used as a fire alarm, to replace the old bell. The cost of the siren was $440.

Two Vehicle Accident - Route 209 - Williams Twp, Dauphin Co, PA
A vehicle accident caused the driver of a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle to be flown to Hershey Medical Center for treatment injuries on May 12, 2007. The motorcycle was being driven westbound on Route 209. At around 7:25 a.m., the driver of a 1988 Ford Festiva, travelling eastbound, failed to see the motorcycle and attempted to make a left turn onto Railroad Street near Williamstown. The two vehicles collided. The driver of the Festiva was transported to Harrisburg Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet.
A fire broke out in the village of Butternuts, in Otsego County, New York, on May 12, 1874. It destroyed half the business district of the village. Lost were the stores of Stockwell & Casse, hardware; G.W. Lillie, general store; F. Blackman, furniture; William Smith, jewelry,; William Oliver, general store; and D. Gray, groceries. The flames were stayed only by the tearing down of buildings.
A car of oil on a freight train out of Harrisburg, heading east to Philadelphia, took fire at Highspire on the morning of May 12, 1874. Before it was extinguished, it also consumed two other cars loaded with oil and one car loaded with live hogs. About thirty hogs managed to escape. Two-hundred feet of track was destroyed by warping from the heat. Telegraph wires also were broken because of poles being burned off.
