Company-22 was dispatched to 413 Market Street in Lykens Borough for a medical assist. Upon arrival on scene, the company found Police and EMS already assisting the patient. The company provided scene safety and control. The company also assisted EMS with extrication of patient from the structure and loading on board the transporting ambulance.
2004
Extinguish hot coals, Glen Road at Glen Park (Box 22-1)
The company was dispatched for a brush fire at 201 Main Street in Lykens Borough. Company-22 responded to that location and found nothing. County advised that the caller reported the fire at the "park" and did not specify an exact location, and that 201 Main Street was the only "park" address they had. The company then proceeded to the Lykens Glen Park on Glen Road and arrived to find two 50 foot by 3 foot areas of hot charcoal still burning, having been abandoned by individuals contracted to cook a chicken BBQ. Numerous civilians were walking through and past the area of hot coals at great risk. County was called to advise them that the source of the fire had been located and to cancel the tanker, that the engine crew would handle the call. The tanker, after experiencing some minor problems turning around, returned to quarters. The engine crew extinguished the fire using one 1?-inch trash line and tank water. The crew flooded the area and spread the remaining coals around to ensure that there were no hot spots remaining.
Company-22 was dispatched class-1 to 414 Market Street for an assist to EMS for lifting. Truck-22 responded with a crew of four and was joined by several members who came POV. Upon arrival, the crew assisted with patient transfer to an EMS transport unit.
With EMS already tied up on another call in the Borough, Company-22 personnel were asked to provide stabilization and EMS assistance for another call at 540 South Second Street while an ambulance from Company-24 was dispatched. Several members who are EMT's responded POV to the call and provided assistance and care until the arrival of the police department and EMS from Company-24.
Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 24-1 box for a washer fire in the laundromat at 100 East Market Street in Williamstown. Truck 22 responded with 4 and on arrival set up a the A/D corner of a 30 foot by 60 foot 3 story combination first floor laundromat and apartments on the other floors. Crews from 23 and 24 had isolated the washer and disconnected it while the Truck crew checked the rest of the building. Control was marked by command and the Truck was released.

Animal Rescue, N. 2nd and Spruce Streets (Box 22-1)
Company 22 dispatched class three for a report of 9 ducklings trapped in a storm drain at the intersection of North Second and Spruce streets in Lykens Boro. The initial call came in to the Boro and was relayed to the County Communications Center. Truck 22 responded and on arrival the crew was able to rescue all 9 of the ducklings, and then went available.
