Engine 22 and Squad 23 were dispatched to the Glen Road near the large pavilion at the Glen Park for a vehicle accident with rollover. Engine 22 and Squad 23 responded and found a one car crash, with one person ejected and another person partially trapped under the rolled car. The person ejected was pronounced dead on the scene. The other person was freed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital by L & W Ambulance.
A box alarm assignment for a report of a fire in the kitchen of 248 North Second Street in the Borough was dispatched. Engine-22 responded with a crew of six, and Engine and Squad 23 were also on the call. Truck-20 was dispatched to replace Truck-22 which was out of service at the time. Engine-22 took side one and had the hydrant at North Second and Edward Streets. Engine-23 took side-1/4 along with the Squad. Truck-20 staged on side-2. Crews found a fire in a stove vent unit in the kitchen with partial extension into the wall, but the fire was out. Crews checked for extensions and vented structure. All other units were placed available.
1996
Accident w/injuries, 500 Block Main St (Box 22-19)
Company 22 was dispatched to assist at the scene of an accident in the 500 block of Main Street. Engine 22 responded, secured the scene, and initiated patient care, while awaiting the arrival of EMS. The engine later went available, after the patient was treated by EMS on the scene.
1998
Smoke Investigation, Rear 522 Market St (Box 22-1)
Truck 22 was dispatched to Tower City, Schuylkill County, for a reported fire in a garage attached to a residence. Truck 22 responded along with Engine 24, and arrived on scene to find first in crews had the fire knocked down. Truck 22 was placed available by command.
The company was dispatched to a location behind the former Rip's Country Deli on Route-209 in Williams Township for a reported structure fire. Chief-24 was first on the scene and found a cabin located ? mile off of Route-209, on Stiners Road, well involved. No access to the cabin was available for fire apparatus. Truck-22 arrived at the staging area on Route-209. Chief-24 sent brush units from Muir and Wiconisco and a tanker from Wiconisco up a treacherous road to the fire. All other responding units, including Engine-22, were released due to the inaccessable location. It was noted by Truck personnel, that on return to Lykens via 'Old-209', the flames of the burning cabin could be seen on the mountain, creating feelings of helplessness.
2009
Set up a landing zone, Ballfield, Glen Road (Box 22-2)
At the request of EMS, Company 22 was dispatched to set up a landing zone for an incoming helicopter at the ballfield on Glen Road in Lykens. Chief 22 advised that the landing zone should be relocated to Station 23's parking lot and to have Company 23 dispatched. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six to Station 23 until Engine 23 went enroute. Company 23 handled the landing zone, and Engine 22 went available.
2019
Odor of electrical inside, 257 Spruce Street (Box 21-1)
Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 21-1 box for a report of an electrical smell inside a residence at 257 Spruce Street in Elizabethville Boro. Engine, Rescue, Tanker and Utility 21 responded along with Engine 26. Truck 22 went enroute with 7 and was directed to proceed in Main Street in Callowhill Street to Spruce Street where they arrived and set up on the A/D corner of a 2 story single family dwelling with crews from 21 interior. The crew did a 360 of the structure while laddering the front of the building and sending a team to the roof to check for anything. After finding nothing on the roof command released the truck and they went available.
Company 21, Engine 26 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 4686 Route 209 in Washington Township at the CVS store for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 responded with 4 and on arrival at a one story strip mall store approximately 100 by 200 feet the Truck took side A. Crews from Engine and Rescue 21 found a faulty detector and Command 21 place the box in service.
The destroyer U.S.S. Frank E. Evans was sliced in two after a collision with Australian aircraft carrier H.M.S. Melbourne in the South China Sea on June 3, 1969. The two ships had been operating together between Saigon, Vietnam and Sparity Island, when the Evans made an incorrect move and cut across the Melbourne's bow, which led to the collision. The bow section of the Evans sank instantly along with 74 of her crew. The stern section was towed to a safe harbor and a few months later was used for target practice and sunk in Subic Bay.
