A first alarm assignment was dispatched for a report of smoke in a structure at 502 North Second Street in the Borough. Engine-22 responded with a crew of six. Engine-23 and Squad-23 also responded. The initial report from police on scene had smoke alarms sounding but nothing visible. Engine-22 arrived on scene and took side 4. Initial investigation found the front and back doors to the building open, TV set on, a smoldering cigarette in an ashtray, with smoke alarms sounding, but no one in the residence. A full search of the building found no one and no fire. Companies were released by command.
Truck 22 was dispatched mutual aid to the Saint Pauls Lutheran Church, in Millersburg, for a church steeple fire. The steeple had been struck by lightning. The truck responded with a crew of five. Other companies dispatched included 20, 21, 26, 29 and 32. Truck 22 arrived on scene and set up on side 4 of the church. The steeple was well involved with fire and the crew used a handline from the bucket of the truck to extinguish the bulk of fire without further damaging what remained of the steeple. The Truck was supplied with water by Engine 21. Damage to the steeple was severe, but there was little damage to the main part of the church. The Truck remained on scene until damage assessment was completed.

Accident w/ Injuries, Main & West Streets (Box 22-1)
Engine 22 and Squad 23 were dispatched to an accident with injuries at Main and West Streets. Chief 23-2 on scene reported no entrapment and canceled Squad 23. Engine 22 responded, and the crew assisted EMS and controlled traffic until released.
Engine 22 was dispatched to relocate to Station 21 while Company 21 was on a fire call in Millersburg. Engine 22 relocated to Station 21, and remained there without incident until released by Chief 21.
2001
Furnace Malfunction, 656 South Second St (Box 22-1)
Engine 22 dispatched to the Dauphin County Library at 683 Main Street in Lykens for a automatic fire alarm, now reported false. Engine 22 responded class 3 with four, and Chief 22-2 responded POV to the scene. On arrival on side A, investigation by the crew found that a child had pulled the alarm and there was no fire. Command placed the Engine available.
Company 24, Engine 647 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 9781 Route 209 in Williams Township for a commercial automatic fire alarm at the Twin Valley Alliance Church. Truck 22 responded with 6 and Chief 22 POV. On arrival, the Truck set up on side D and went interior to check for a reported detector activation. Tanker 24 and Engine 647 also on scene with command by Chief 24-1. After checking the church and finding no problem, command put the box in service.
