Smoke in a Structure, 502 N 2nd St (Box 22-11)

A first alarm assignment was dispatched for a report of smoke in a structure at 502 North Second Street in the Borough. Engine-22 responded with a crew of six. Engine-23 and Squad-23 also responded. The initial report from police on scene had smoke alarms sounding but nothing visible. Engine-22 arrived on scene and took side 4. Initial investigation found the front and back doors to the building open, TV set on, a smoldering cigarette in an ashtray, with smoke alarms sounding, but no one in the residence. A full search of the building found no one and no fire. Companies were released by command.

Church Fire, 324 North Street (Box 20-15)

Truck 22 was dispatched mutual aid to the Saint Pauls Lutheran Church, in Millersburg, for a church steeple fire. The steeple had been struck by lightning. The truck responded with a crew of five. Other companies dispatched included 20, 21, 26, 29 and 32. Truck 22 arrived on scene and set up on side 4 of the church. The steeple was well involved with fire and the crew used a handline from the bucket of the truck to extinguish the bulk of fire without further damaging what remained of the steeple. The Truck was supplied with water by Engine 21. Damage to the steeple was severe, but there was little damage to the main part of the church. The Truck remained on scene until damage assessment was completed.

Accident w/ Injuries, Main & West Streets (Box 22-1)

Engine 22 and Squad 23 were dispatched to an accident with injuries at Main and West Streets. Chief 23-2 on scene reported no entrapment and canceled Squad 23. Engine 22 responded, and the crew assisted EMS and controlled traffic until released.

Station 21, Relocate (Box 20-1)

Engine 22 was dispatched to relocate to Station 21 while Company 21 was on a fire call in Millersburg. Engine 22 relocated to Station 21, and remained there without incident until released by Chief 21.

Furnace Malfunction, 656 South Second St (Box 22-1)

Automatic Fire Alarm, 683 Main Street (Box 22-2)

Engine 22 dispatched to the Dauphin County Library at 683 Main Street in Lykens for a automatic fire alarm, now reported false. Engine 22 responded class 3 with four, and Chief 22-2 responded POV to the scene. On arrival on side A, investigation by the crew found that a child had pulled the alarm and there was no fire. Command placed the Engine available.

Automatic Fire Alarm, 9781 Route 209 (Box 24-2)

Company 24, Engine 647 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 9781 Route 209 in Williams Township for a commercial automatic fire alarm at the Twin Valley Alliance Church. Truck 22 responded with 6 and Chief 22 POV. On arrival, the Truck set up on side D and went interior to check for a reported detector activation. Tanker 24 and Engine 647 also on scene with command by Chief 24-1. After checking the church and finding no problem, command put the box in service.

Cardiac Arrest - AED, 641 North Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 641 North Street in Lykens for a cardiac arrest AED call. Chief 22 responded POV followed by Utility 22 with 2 and Truck 22 with 4. On arrival the crew assisted Lykens PD with CPR until the arrival of Medic 6. Crew continued with CPR and assisting with patient treatment until released by EMS.

AFA, 200 Kocher Lane (Box 21-5)

Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 200 Kocher Lane in Washington Township at the Walmart for an automatic fire alarm. Engine 21 responded with 6, Rescue 21 with 5, and Truck 22 with 7. Company 21 was advised that it was a water flow alarm. Command 21 directed the Truck on their arrival to set up at the A/B corner of the building. On arrival the Truck set up at the A/B corner and held their manpower. Interior crews from 21 secured the water and command 21 placed the Truck available.

Chimney Fire, 47 East Main Street (Box 21-1)

Company 21, 26 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 47 East Main street in Elizabethville for a chimney fire. Truck 22 responded with 6 and 4 additional members went POV. On arrival at side A of a 2 story 16 foot by 34 foot single family dwelling the Truck set up and pulled a 35 foot extension ladder and took it to the C side of the structure to gain access to the chimney. Command placed Company 26 available. Investigation by Company 21 members determined it to be a furnace malfunction. The Truck crew examined the chimney from the roof and found it to be clear. Command placed the box available.

Structure Fire, 225 West Broad Street (Box 21-1)
Detail >>
Companies 21, 20, 26, 216, Rescue 23 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 225 West Broad street in Elizabethville for a structure fire. Updated information found it to be a tree on fire in front of the address and the box was canceled except for Engine 21, placing everything else in service.
