An oil stove in the kitchen of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McNamar, of North Second Street, was believed responsible for the fire in their home Monday morning, July 14, 1947, between 8:30 and 9:00.
Company 24, Engines 23 and 66, and Truck 22 dispatched to 517 East Market Street in Williamstown for an odor of something burning inside a structure. Truck 22 responded with 5, and on arrival took side A and sent manpower to the staging area on side C. Crews from 24, 66, and 22 split up the 3 floors and searched the structure with thermal cameras. A faulty exhaust fan motor was found in a first floor bathroom. Crews were then released by command.

Medical Assist, 309 North Second Street (Box 22-1)
At the request of EMS, Company 22 dispatched class 3 to 309 North Second Street in Lykens for a lift assist. Truck 22 responded with 4, and 6 members responded to the scene POV including the 3 chiefs. On arrival, crew assisted in removing a patient from an upstairs bedroom to an awaiting transport ambulance. After completing the task, Truck 22 went available.
