This is one of two vehicle fires in two weeks. The owner of the vehicle thanked the company and said, "... Everyone worked so very efficiently and was so very kind...."
Engine-22 was dispatched to assist companies 21, 20, 26, and 28 with manpower on a barn fire. Engine-22 responded, along with additional crew via POV, having a total of 14 crewmembers on the call. The engine arrived on scene and staged on Route-209, manpower was sent to the scene, and suppression activities were assisted with until the company was released by command.
Tanker-22 was dispatched to assist companies 21, 26, and 20 with an airplane hanger fire at a private airport west of Elizabethville Borough. Tanker-22 responded with a crew of two and was canceled while enroute.
Truck 22 was dispatched along with companies 24, 23, and 66 to a possible structure fire in Williamstown. Truck 22 responded, and when Company 24 arrived on scene, the Truck was placed in service.
At the request of Medic 6, Company 22 dispatched class three to 801 Market Street in Lykens to assist EMS with removing an extremely obese patient from his residence to their transport unit. Engine 22 responded with 6 and Utility 22 with 2. On arrival, the crew assisted EMS with removing the patient from the home to their unit, and then went available.
At the request of Medic 6, Company 22 dispatched class three to 801 Market Street in Lykens to assist them with returning an extremely obese patient from their unit to his residence. Engine 22 responded with 4, Utility 22 with 2, and two members responded POV to the scene. On arrival, the crew assisted EMS with transferring the patient back into his residence, and then went available.
Utility 22 dispatched class three to the intersection of Main Street and Lehr Street to direct traffic off of Route 209 as the result of an accident. Utility 22 responded with 4 and Chiefs 22 and 22-1 POV. Two additional members stood by in Station 22. On arrival, the crew re-directed traffic until released by Command 23.
Engines 22 and 23 and Medic 6 dispatched class one to 317 Main Street in Lykens for a chemical odor inside a residence. Engine 23 responded with 8 and Engine 22 with 3. On their arrival side A, Engine 23 sent a crew inside with a meter to check levels. On the arrival of Engine 22, their crew went inside to assist with their meter. Finding nothing, the box was put in service.
Company 22 dispatched class three to the 600 block of Market Street for a wire down. Chiefs 22 and 22-2 went POV to the scene along with 3 other members. Engine 22 went enroute with 4. On arrival the wire was found to be a phone line knocked down by a truck from 614 Market Street. The wire was removed from the street and coiled up and command placed the box available.
Marlin Wenrich and Karl Miller were injured in a car crash on Tuesday, August 19, 1958, when the car they were riding in went out of control on a curve near Williamstown, PA. The car sheared off a utility pole one and a half miles west of Williamstown, hit a parked car owned by Pauline Usuka, crossed the highway, and climbed an embankment before stopping. Wenrich received scalp cuts and a possible skull fracture. Miller sustained a back injury.
