At 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, October 1, 1934, fire of undetermined origin destroyed the barn on the farm of Thomas Enders near Fisherville. The fire occurred while a number of men worked in the field cutting corn. Hay and grain, a large percentage of Enders' farm machinery, and sixteen head of sheep were also destroyed. The horses and cows were lead from the barn to safety. To the call for help, the fire companies of Fisherville and Halifax responded. But, because of the headway made before their arrival, they were unable to save the structure.
