Fire occurred at Joseph Bowman's on Main Street at 12 o'clock noon. The company responded and made attachment to a plug at T.M. Williams' house on the corner of Main and Spruce Street. The stop off nozzle was used and it worked to a charm.
12:30 o'clock on Sunday Morning, October 17th was the first fire in 1897. It was in the stable to the rear of Andrew Wise's house on North Second Street. We were the only company at the fire. The cause is unknown. The damage was slight.
Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 269 Camp Street in Elizabethville Boro at the Elizabethville Veterinary Hospital for an automatic fire alarm. As Truck 22 was responding with 4 Command 21 placed them in service.
At the request of Chief 22 on scene Company 22 dispatched class three to the Union House Apartments at 600 Main street in Lykens for a person stuck in an elevator. Truck 22 responded with 4 and Utility 22 with 4. After arriving on scene of a 4 story 65 foot by 81 foot brick apartment building the Truck took side A and the Utility Side D. Crews took tools and equipment to the 4th floor to attempt to open a stuck elevator door with someone inside. Rescue 23 was requested to the scene to assist and they responded with 6. On their arrival they brought the spreaders to the 4th floor to help open the doors. Medic 6-2 also on scene. After getting the door open and the occupant out the crew shut down power to the elevator until a repair person arrived to make repairs. The box was placed available.
Fire was discovered in the basement of the Episcopal Church in Williamstown on Saturday evening, October 17, 1942. The fire was caused by an overheated furnace, and resulted in $800 estimated damage.
