Company 22 was dispatched to assist Company 23 with a garage fire at the home of Jack Shadle on Coaldale Road, 1230 Pottsville Street. Engine, Truck, and Tanker 22 responded. The fire was out upon arrival. A spark from a welder had settled in a piece of carpeting. Fueled by oil which had been spilled on the carpet, the spark burned through the carpet, producing thick black smoke, but caused little or no damage.
At the request of EMS, Company 22 dispatched class three to 251 North Street for a lift assist. Engine 22, which was on standby at a fire prevention event on Main Street, responded with 2, and Chief 22-1 and Captain 22 responded POV to the scene. On arrival, the crew assisted Medic 6 with packaging and transferring the patient to their unit for transport to a hospital, and then went available. The Engine returned to the public service detail.
Truck 22 dispatched class one to Porter Township Schuylkill County in the village of Muir to 122 West Wiconisco Avenue for a kitchen fire. As the Truck was pulling out of Station 22 with 7 command placed them in service.
Company 22 dispatched class one to 801 Market Street in Lykens for a medical assist. EMS had an extended eta. Chief 22 responded POV and Truck 22 went enroute with 6. On arrival, crew initiated patient care until the arrival of Schuylkill 66-01 and Medic 1-9/ After the patient was transferred to the transport unit command placed the company available.

Medical Assist - AED, 321 Spruce Street (Box 22-1)
Company 22 dispatched class one to 321 Spruce Street in Lykens for a Medical Assist for a possible cardiac arrest AED call. Chief 22-2 and two members responded POV to the scene and Utility 22 went enroute with 4 and Engine 22 with 2. On arrival the crew assisted PSP and EMS until released.
Truck 22 dispatched class one on the structure assignment to 29 Kushwa Road in Hubley Township Schuylkill County for a garage fire. Truck 22 responded with 6 and was canceled by command 14 shortly after response.
Truck 22 dispatched class one to 1928 East Grand Avenue in Porter Township Schuylkill County on a Muir box for a residential fire alarm sounding. Truck 22 went enroute with 4 and was canceled by Schuylkill command while enroute.
Truck 22 dispatched class one for the out of service Truck 20 on the 20-1 box for an automatic fire alarm at 660 Rising Sun Road in Upper Paxton Township. Truck 22 responded with 4 and was canceled by Chief 20-1 while enroute, alarm set off due to construction.
A single-engine airplane crashed on Berry Mountain about a mile southeast of Elizabethville early on the morning of Monday, October 18, 1976. Four people aboard the plane were killed in the crash, which dug a hole into the ground. The plane took off from Harrisburg International Airport at 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 17th, bound for Northumberland County Airport near Elysburg. There were snow showers and freezing rain on that Sunday night, but it was not determined if that is what caused the accident. The bodies were identified as Guy Bruce Klisscher, age 24, of Aristes, suspected to be the piolt; Ellsworth Schultz, age 62, of Catawissa RD; Marian Schultz, age 61, of Catawissa RD; and Dennis Walter, age 31, of Catawissa RD.
Steven L. Twigg of Williamsport RD was driving east on Pottsville Street and reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at Market Street. He struck a vehicle driven by Dorothy Trabitz of Millersburg RD, who was driving west on Pottsville Street and attempting a left turn onto North Market Street. Trabitz was taken to Harrisburg Hospital.
