The third call of 1895 was at 5:30 on Sunday morning, November 3rd, at the stables of Mrs. Charles Miller Estate. The company responded and made two attachments: one on South Second Street, the other on Main Street. The fire was brought under control in a short time. Damages were $100, covered by insurance. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Fire alarm sounded at 8:30. Fire broke out at property of Lewis Wentzler on the South side of South Street, occupied by [Besy] Witmer. The roof took fire damage, covered by insurance.
Truck 22 was dispatched to assist Company 24 on a reported structure fire in Williamstown. Initial report was for a house filling up with smoke. Companies 66 and 23 were also added to the call along with Schuylkill County units Engine 790, Tanker 650 and Air 790. EMS arrived on scene first, confirming smoke showing and reporting that the residence was evacuated. Truck 22 responded, and Chief 22 responded POV. Engine and Tanker 22 were also added to the box when other units failed to respond. They were later canceled before response. Truck 22 arrived on the scene, and assisted with investigation of the structure. Lieutenant 22 was requested to respond to the scene POV to bring Company 22's heat gun, which was on Engine 22. The crew assisted at the scene until released by command.
Engine 22 and Tanker 22 were dispatched to Wiconsico Township, along with Companies 23 and 24, for a residential structure fire, with fire in a coal stove on the first floor. Engine 22 responded, and shortly before arrival on scene, was placed in service by Chief 23.
Tanker-22 was dispatched to assist Company-23 with an odor investigation. The tanker responded with two personnel and staged on scene until released by command.
Engine-22, Tanker-22, Brush-23, and Victor-15 were dispatched for a report of a mountain fire along Berry Mountain. One call received from Dayton Road in Williamstown advised that across from their location looking towards Berry Mountain, they could see flames. Engine-22 and Tanker-22 responded on Route-209, heading East. Brush-23 and Tanker-23 responded East on old Route-209 through the village of Dayton. Engine-22 requested Company-24 also be dispatched, and County directed them to respond to the caller location for more information. Investigation determined that the source of flames was a controlled burn located at Koppy's Propane on Route-209 in Williams Township. The box was placed in service and all units went available.
Company 22 dispatched class one to 614 Main Street in Lykens to Dr Bowers office for a cardiac arrest, AED response. Engine 22 responded with 5 and Utility 22 with 1. On arrival, the crew assisted with CPR, attached the AED and delivered one shock, until arrival of EMS from 6 and 24. After assisting with CPR, the crew assisted with moving the patient to the transport unit for the trip to a hospital, and then went available.
Arthur Helt and Gilbert Helt went to Philadelphia on Monday, November 3, 1947, and purchased a new Cadillac ambulance for the Reiff and Helt Funeral Directors, Lykens.
The Millersburg fire company was dispatched for an accident with entrapment in the area of Route 209 and Wiconisco Street on November 3, 2007. A 1992 Ford Taurus was traveling west on Route 209 and was turning onto Wiconisco Street when it struck an eastbound 2007 Pontiac G6. The Taurus was pushed into a parked motorhome. Chief 20 arrived on the scene and reported that there was no entrapment, however one patient was partially ejected. Engine 20 quickly arrived on scene and began scene control and patient care. Engine 201 arrived and set up a landing zone for Life Lion helicopter in a nearby parking lot. One patient was transported to the landing zone and flown to Hershey Medical Center while the other was transported by ground to Harrisburg Hospital.
