Company 22 OIC alerted to a report of someone burning trash in the 200 block of North Street in Lykens. Chief and Lieutenant 22 responded to the scene class three POV. On arrival, the Chief requested Engine 22 non-emergency to extinguish trash burning in the alley behind the address. Engine 22 responded with 2 and Utility 22 with 3 class three. On arrival, a 1 3/4 inch line was pulled and tank water used to put out the trash. After confirming that the fire was out, command put the box in service.

Accident with entrapment, 1652 Pottsville Street (Box 23-3)
Engine 22 dispatched class one to 1652 Pottsville Street in Wiconisco Township for a one car accident with entrapment. Chief 22 went enroute POV, Engine 22 with 6 and Utility 22 with 3. On arrival, the Engine and Utility staged and stood by until released by command.
Company 22, Engine 23 and Truck 20 for the out of service Truck 22 dispatched class one to the Alfa Laval Thermal Plant at 300 Chestnut Street in Lykens for an automatic fire alarm. Chief 22 went enroute POV to the scene and was advised by dispatch that the plant manager had called in to request a cancellation of the alarm. Chief 22 requested all units to remain in quarters until he investigated. On arrival at the plant, he found normal conditions. After investigation, he placed the box in service as a result of culinary indifference.
EMS requested Company 22 dispatched class one to the Glen Park to set up an LZ for Life Lion. Chief 22 responded POV and requested that the LZ be moved to Station 23 which then had Company 23 dispatched class one. Engine 22 had a full crew and went enroute to the LZ with 6 along with Utility 22 with 2 and Chief 22 POV. On arrival, the 22 crew met up with the Engine 23 crew and prepared the LZ. Life Lion landed at the LZ, but was not used. EMS then released companies 22 and 23.
Engine 22 dispatched class one as next due for Engine 23 for a shed fire at 205 Center Street in Wiconisco Township. Engine 22 canceled when Engine 23 went responding.
Sixteen-year-old Melvin Adams, of Tower City, was killed on Saturday, November 13, 1948, as a result of a hunting mishap near Good Springs. He received the full charge of his 12-gauge shotgun in his right temple. He was carrying it down a stripping spillbank when the gun fired.
