A large barn on the Harry Bower farm was destroyed by fire on November 12, 1934. The Halifax and Community Fire Company responded. The loss was $2,500. Note: This was one of two barn fires that day for the Halifax fire company. This fire occurred nine hours after the first fire.

Electrical Accident - Hegins Twp, Schuylkill County, PA
Luther Green, age 38, of Valley View, an employee at the Markson Coal Company in Valley View, was instantly killed on Friday, November 12, 1948, while at work. He was hauling pea coal to a stock bank 200 yards from the breaker. When he raised the body of the truck to dump the coal, it came in contact with a high tension wire carrying 23,000 volts. He was killed instantly.
