Fire, Zerby Property
Detail >>
Fire alarm sounded at 1:20 PM on November 25, 1910. Fire broke out at the Zerby property on Market Street, occupied by the Zerby sisters. The fire was caused by a defective flue.

2005
Medical Assist, 607 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company-22 was dispatched to assist EMS at 607 Main Street for extricating a patient from that residence. Engine-22 responded with a crew of six, four firefighters went to the scene POV, and chief 22-1 responded to the scene. The engine crew arrived on scene and assisted the Medic-6 crew with removal of a large patient from a second floor apartment. The crew assisted with a stair chair and brought the patient down to a litter and packaged for transport.

Medical Assist - AED resp, 210 North Second Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 was dispatched to 210 North Second Street for an AED response to a cardiac arrest call. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six and upon arrival was advised by EMS that the patient was deceased. Engine 22 was placed available.
2008
Chimney Fire, 4611 Back Road (Box 19-1)

Truck 22, along with Company 19, was dispatched to Jefferson Township to 4611 Back Road for a reported chimney fire. The homeowner reported hearing a crackling sound coming from the area near the chimney. Truck 22 responded with a crew of five, and was first to arrive on the scene, followed by Engine 19. Chief 22-2 assumed command. The fire was out when the crews arrived, and no extensions were found. There was a buildup of creosote in the chimney, and the crews disconnected it from the furnace by removing the pipes leading to it. The structure was vented, CO levels checked and found to be 0, and the homeowner advised to contact a repair service. The Truck crew was notified by dispatch of another call in Schuylkill County (see call #64) and cleared this event to respond to the new call.
2008
Smoke in an Apartment, 612 East Grand Avenue (Box S.C.)

While Truck 22 was finishing at the scene of a call in Dauphin County's Jefferson Township (see call #63), County dispatch notified the crew of a second call in Tower City, Schuylkill County. Chief 22-2 advised County that Truck 22 was responding with an extended ETA of 30 or more minutes, and to dispatch the next due Truck as well. Truck 22 went enroute to 612 East Grand Avenue for a report of smoke in an apartment. Schuylkill County Companies 66, 650, and 655 were also dispatched. The Truck responded from the Jefferson Township scene with its crew of five, and was canceled by Schuylkill County while enroute.
2009
Automatic Fire Alarm, 9781 Route 209 (Box 24-2)

Company 24, Engine 66, and Truck 22 dispatched to 9781 Route 209 at the Twin Valley Alliance Church for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 responded with 7, and on arrival were instructed by command to stage on side 4 and have the crew check the exterior of the building. A crew from Tanker 24 found a broken hand pull station inside the church that was the source of the alarm. Command put the box in service.

Medical Assist, 15 South 2nd Street (Box 22-1)

At the request of Medic 6-6 on scene, Company 22 dispatched class three to the Rattling Creek Apartments at 15 South Second Street in Lykens for a lift assist. Chief 22 responded POV and Engine 22 responded with 5. On arrival side A the crew went in and assisted EMS with lifting a patient on to their litter and in to their transport unit for a trip to the hospital. After completing the task command placed the company available.

AFA, 349 Union Street (Box 20-1)

Truck 22 dispatched class one as next due Truck on the 20-1 box for an automatic fire alarm at the Mid Penn Bank at 349 Union Street in Millersburg. Command 20 placed the Truck in service before response.
