Engine 22 was dispatched to assist EMS with a fall victim on the Greenland Trail in Jefferson/Jackson Townships. Initial report was for a person that had fallen from a horse and had broken several bones. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six, along with several other members who responded POV. The engine staged at the Greenland parking lot at the Handboard, and sent crewmembers back the trail to search for the victim. The victim was located and the crew assisted EMS with packaging and removal of patient from the trail to an awaiting ambulance.
A first alarm assignment was dispatched for a report of a structure fire at 316 North Street in Lykens, bringing Engine and Truck 22, Engines 23 and 24, Rescue 21, and Schuylkill County Air-light 66-60. Engine-22 responded with a crew of five, Truck 22 with a crew of five, and Chief 22 responded POV to the scene. Upon arrival, Engine-22 took side-A/B and saw heavy black and brown smoke pushing out of the chimney, with some smoke also showing from a basement window. Truck-22 arrived and took side-A, and laddered the building. The first-in crew pulled a line and advanced it to the rear of the structure to the outside cellar door, where entry was made. Once inside the basement, no fire was found, but smoke was surrounding the area around the furnace. The furnace was shut down and the pipe to the chimney was pulled. Mutual Aid units began arriving. Engine-23 was staged behind Engine-22 followed by Engine-24 and Air-light 66-60. Rescue-21 staged behind Truck-22. Command held the box to Companies 22 and 23, releasing all others including EMS. A PPV fan was used to ventilate smoke from the first floor, and a negative pressure fan was set up at the basement window next to the furnace. The furnace was cooled down with a CO2 extinguisher and ventilation was completed in the basement. The house was turned over to the owner, who was advised that the furnace was damaged beyond use and was inoperable. The units on the scene were placed available.

Accident with injuries, Main & Division Streets (Box 22-1)
Engines 22 and 23 were dispatched to the intersection of Main and Division Streets for a two car accident with injuries. Chief 22-1 responded to the scene POV (bicycle) along with Chief 22 by conventional means. Two crew members from Company 22 had responded to the station by two wheeled transportation as well. Medic 6 had units on five other calls at the time, and the on duty crew was in station 22 without a unit. Engine 22 responded with a crew of four, as well as the EMT and Parmedic from Company 6, who staffed a "paramedic engine." Upon arrival on the scene, the crew found one vehicle still in the intersection and the other vehicle on Division Street. Command placed Engine 23 in service prior to their arrival. There were fluids and glass on the roadway. A BLS unit from company 24 (Williamstown) was on scene, and the mixed crew from Engine 22 assisted with getting a patient onboard Ambulance 24-1. After arrival of PSP, the engine crew cleared the streets of debris and went available.
Engine 22 was requested to transfer to Elizabethville's Station 21. Companies 20, 21, 26, and 29 were working a structure fire in Millersburg at Walnut and North Streets. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six to station 21, and remained there on standby until released by Chief 21-3 Werner.
Company 22 and Engine 23 dispatched class one to 50 Reiff Street in Lykens to the Reiff and Nestor Plant for an automatic fire alarm at the building known as the white house. Chief 22 responded POV and was advised by Dauphin County that plant personnel on scene had a proper pass code and that they were requesting the fire department to cancel. Command held units in quarters. Engine 22 held with 5 and Engine 23 with 5. On arrival and after investigation, command placed the box in service.
Company 22 dispatched class three to Powells Valley Road in Jackson Township about a mile from the top of the Lykens mountain for a reported tree down across the roadway. Engine 22 responded with 3 and Chief 22 POV. After searching for the tree it was finally located a mile below the area known as the handboard in Jefferson Township. It appeared to be a cluster of trees that all fell that were completely blocking Powells Valley Road. The crew began attempts to clear the tree from the road. Medic 6 and Brush 19 were requested to the scene to assist. Brush 19 responded with 4 and Chief 19 POV. On their arrival the crews continued work on the multiple trees. Assistance from Penndot with a loader was requested. The event was turned over to Company 19 since it was in their territory and they released Company 22. They remained on scene until the arrival of Penndot shortly after that.
Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 151 Simon Boulevard in Washington Township for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 was canceled prior to response, false trip.
On Monday, June 28, 1976, around 6 p.m., Arthur Machamer and James McNeil, both age 22, were unloading the trunk of a vehicle on Race Street in Lykens. An acquaintance of theirs, Thomas Billhime, age 20, of Wiconisco, pulled in behind them. However, Billhime's breaks failed and his vehicle struck the two men, pinning them to the trunk of their car. They were transported to Community General Osteopathic Hospital by the Lykens & Wiconisco ambulance, where Machamer was admitted in unsatisfactory condition, and McNeil was admitted in satisfactory condition. Both men suffered broken legs.
