Company 22 dispatched class one to 15 South Second Street in Lykens at the Rattling Creek Apartments for an automatic fire alarm. Chiefs 22 and 22-1 responded POV to the scene, and on the arrival of Chief 22 on side A of a 4 story 100 by 75 foot brick over steel housing unit he found the building had alarms sounding and was evacuated. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Truck 22 with 3. On arrival, the Engine took side D and the Truck side A and they sent crews interior. Initial reports were the alarm was coming from the 4th floor. Crews did a primary search of the 4th floor and found nothing out of the ordinary. The Chiefs silenced the alarm at the panel in the first floor lobby and the rest of the building was checked. Having found nothing the box was cleared and the Company went available.

Vehicle Accident - Halifax Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

An automobile driven by Carl Rahenkamp, age 21, of Sunbury crashed into a tree near Halifax early on Sunday, September 9, 1934. His vision was obscured by fog, and he failed to turn his car sharply enough to negotiate a curve in the road. The driver and his passenger, Ruth Adams, age 16, also of Sunbury, were taken to the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg. Rahenkamp died from his injuries. Adams suffered from a possible fracture of the skull and cuts of the nose and left hand.

Joseph Sagusky, age 31, of Llewellyn, was fatally injured and Robert Pannel, of Williamstown, was seriously injured shortly after 2:30 o'clock on the morning of Sunday, September 9, 1934, when a tire of the auto in which they were riding blew out on Keffer's Mountain as they were driving eastward. The car crashed into an embankment and overturned. Sagusky, who was in the rumble seat, was badly crushed. He died from a compound fracture of the skull shortly after being admitted to the Warne Hospital in Pottsville. Pannel, having sustained a broken arm and body injuries, was also admitted to the Warne Hospital.
