Company 22 was dispatched to assist Company 19 on a smoke investigation. Engine and Truck 22 responded, but were canceled enroute by command.
2006
Odor Investigation, 540 South Second Street (Box 22-1)

At the request of on-scene EMS, Company 22 was dispatched class-3 to 540 South Second Street to investigate an odor inside the residence. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six to the property, which is located next to the fire station. Chiefs 22-1 & 22-2 responded POV. The crew was met on the scene by personnel from Medic 6 and a representative from Tower Sales, who stated that the occupant was found in the home with a strong odor of fuel oil present. He discovered that the furnace had malfunctioned and misfired, causing the strong fuel oil smell. The crew vented the house. Members walked to the station and brought Truck 22, which was set up in the alley behind the home to check the chimney. The chimney was a 25-foot free standing structure in the yard, located about 15 feet from the house. The chimney was found to be clear, but the horizontal pipe running to it from the house could not be checked. The furnace repairman placed the furnace out of service and the resident's daughter was summoned to the scene to take charge of the occupant. Units were cleared from the scene by command and went available.

Medical Assist, 243 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 243 Main Street in Lykens on the medical assist for a patient with difficulty breathing and EMS with an extended ETA. Chief 22-1 responded POV to the scene, Utility 22 went enroute with 2 and 2 additional members responded POV. On arrival, patient care had been established by Chief 22-1 and an initial set of vitals were taken. Medic 6 arrived and took over patient care. Rescue 23 was requested class one with additional manpower in order to move the patient to the ambulance. They responded with 4 and on arrival the two crews moved the patient into the transport unit and were placed available.

Cardiac Arrest - AED, 243 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 243 Main Street in Lykens for a cardiac arrest - AED call. Utility 22 reponded with 2 and Engine 22 with 4 and five members went POV to the scene. On arrival the crew assisted Medic 6 with CPR until released and were then placed available.

AFA, 100 South 7th Street (Box S.C.)

Truck 22 dispatched class one to Porter Township in Schuylkill County to the Tower View Apartments at 100 South 7th Street for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 responded with 3 and on arrival they set up on the A side of a two story 100 foot by 150 foot multiple apartments ordinary construction building with the residents all located in the lobby and Deputy Chief 22-1 and Schuylkill Engine 22-1 on location. The Truck crew split up and went interior. No location for the alarm was known so both floors were checked and nothing was found. After Command determined that there was no emergency the box was placed available and the Truck returned.

Cardiac Arrest - AED, 602 Laurel Lane (Box 22-2)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 602 Laurel Lane in Lykens for a cardiac arrest AED response. Utility 22 responded with 4 and Engine 22 with 4 and 4 members responded POV to the scene. On arrival the crew found Medic 6 on scene with the patient who was awake and breathing. Crew assisted with removal of the patient from the residence to their transport unit and then went available.

Carriage Accident - Lykens, PA

R.F. Martz and Jacob Collier were thrown from a carriage in which they were riding on Sunday afternoon, November 18, 1866. One man landed on a tree stump. The other landed on a pile of stones. Neither man was seriously hurt.
1934
Vehicle Accident - Washington Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

On Sunday evening, November 18, 1934, a Willys-Knight operated by William Knoll of Williamstown failed to properly negotiate the curve at Big Run and struck the Buick sedan driven by Mayers Forman, well known furniture dealer of Lykens and Wiconisco. After the collision, Knoll's car veered off the highway and demolished the porch on the home of Henry Spotts. State Highway Patrollman E.A. Shoop charged Knoll with reckless driving.
