Companies 22, 23, 21, and 24 were dispatched to a reported electrical fire at the Reiff and Nestor Plant in Lykens. Engine 22 responded, and after some initial confusion as to assignments, ended up arriving on scene at the West Street Side of the plant, followed by Engine 23 and Engine 22-1. The fire was contained to the area of origin. Units remained on scene performing overhaul until released by command.
Company 22 and 23 were dispatched to extricate an individual that was unable to get out of the elevator in the Rattling Creek Apartments. Engines 22 and 23 arrived on scene and assisted with extricating one person from the elevator.

Smoke in a Structure, 221 Market Street (Box 22-1)
Companies 22, 23, 24, 21 and Schuylkill 66 dispatched class one to 221 Market Street in Lykens for a report of smoke inside the structure. Chief 22-2, who lives across the street, was on scene in a matter of seconds, finding nothing showing on side A. Entering the structure through the C side entrance, he met with the daughter of the owner of the property and was advised that the pellet stove located in the dining room was pushing smoke into the interior of the house. The power was out in the area and the stove blower motor was not working and the smoke from the pellet stove was pushing out the sides of the stove. The daughter had shut the stove down and called 911. Command held the box to company 22 class three. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Truck 22 with 3, with the Engine taking side A and the Truck setting up on side B. Crews checked the interior walls around the stove with the TIC and found nothing. With no smoke in the interior and the stove fire out, command placed the box in service.
At the request of 24 EMS, company 22 dispatched class one to 801 Market Street in Lykens for a patient with difficulty breathing. Having just cleared the previous call (see call #77) The Engine and Truck responded and met EMS on the scene. With power out in the area, the extremely obese patient's hospital bed had deflated and a request was made for a generator to re-inflate the bed. Chief 22-2 and a firefighter were about to bring a generator from station 22 when power to the area was restored, and the box was placed in service.
Truck 22 dispatched class three to assist Company 23 on a trailer fire near the intersection of Pottsville Street and Market Street below the Sewer Plant on the 23-2 box. Truck 22 responded with 6, and Chiefs 22 and 22-1 responded POV. On arrival, crew was assigned to assist with overhaul and digging out any remaining hot spots in a large construction trailer on a cleared lot along Market Street. Crews assisted 23 until released by Command.
Lester Webster's home in Enders was damaged by fire to a loss of $3,000 on December 7, 1959. Fire companies from Fisherville, Millersburg, Gratz, Elizabethville, Halifax, and Powells Valley responded to the scene.
