Fire, R. Coble & Son's

Fire alarm sounded at 11:15 AM on Saturday, January 13, 1906 and the company responded to the scene of fire at R. Coble's & Son's store on Main Street. Connections were made to the plug at the corner of Main and Market Streets, but water was not needed. The fire had been caught in time and extinguished with a small garden hose.

Medical Assist, 100 South West Street (Box 27-1)

At the request of Command 27 and EMS, Utility 22 dispatched class three to 100 South West Street in Gratz at the Park Terrace Apartments for a medical assist for lifting. Utility 22 responded class three with 5, and on arrival, assisted members of Rescue 27 and Medic 6 with lifting an extremely large patient from his apartment into their transport unit, and then went available.

Medical Assist, 617 Arch Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 617 Arch Street in Lykens for a child choking and EMS coming from a distance away. Chief 22 responded POV and Truck 22 went enroute with 4 and Utility 22 with 2. On arrival, crew started patient care until the arrival of EMS from Medic 6 and 24. Command then placed the company available.

Pedestrian Struck, 415 Main Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 dispatched class one to the area in front of 415 Main Street for a child struck by a vehicle. Chiefs 22-2 and 22 responded to the scene and Engine 22 went enroute with 4. Patient care was started until the arrival of the Engine and Medic 6. After transferring care to EMS command placed the box available.

Transformer fire, 575 South Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 alerted class three to 575 South Street directly behind the fire station for a transformer fire. Chief 22 responded POV to the scene and Engine 22 responded with 3. Seven additional members went to the scene POV. Chief 22 on arrival found a pole fire now out and called in the pole number to the communications center. The box was then placed in service. Cause was a squirrel who did not survive the event.

AFA, 1619 Pottsville Street (Box 23-3)
Detail >>
Engine 23 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 1619 Pottsville Street in Wiconisco Township for an automatic fire alarm in a residence. Truck 22 responded with 7 and was canceled by Chief 23-1 while enroute.

Elevator Rescue, 15 South 2nd Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 dispatched class three to the Rattling Creek Apartments at 15 South Second Street in Lykens for a person stuck in an elevator. Truck 22 responded with 4 and on arrival staged on side A of a 4 story brick multiple family apartment building. Crew went interior and using an elevator key freed the occupant and then went available.
