AFA, 100 South 7th Street (Box S.C.)

Truck 22 and Tanker 24 from Dauphin County dispatched class one to 100 South 7th Street in Porter Township Schuylkill County at the Tower View Apartments for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 went enroute with 7 and Tanker 24 with 4. Both units were placed available by Muir Command as they arrived on scene.

Flooding, 600 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class three to the Union House Apartments at 600 Main Street in Lykens for a flooded elevator shaft. Utility 22 responded with 2 and Engine 22 responded with 2 and Chief 22 POV. On arrival the crew set up a submersible pump to clear about 2 feet of water out of the elevator shaft. After re arranging some sump pumps for them to maintain pumping of the shaft the crew went available.

Public Service call, 527 Spruce Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class three to 527 Spruce Street at the Opera House Apartments in Lykens for a public service call. Engine 22 went enroute with 3 and arrived on side D of a 2 story 9 unit apartment building approximately 40 foot by 100 foot. EMS was in one apartment with a patient and requested that we shut off a broken water line to that apartment. Crews forced entry into the basement and located and shut off the water to the building and then went available.

Accident with no injury, 406 Market Street (Box 22-1)

At the request of Chief 22-1 on scene, Engine 22 and EMS dispatched to the 400 block of Market Street for a car that struck a pole. Chiefs 22 and 22-2 went to the scene POV, and Engine 22 responded with 3. Three additional personnel arrived on scene POV. On arrival, crews secured the car and fluids, and maintained traffic control until the arrival of PSP and the tow truck. After the vehicle was towed, command placed the box in service.

Medical Assist, 15 S 2nd St (Box 22-1)

Engine 22 was dispatched to the Rattling Creek Apartments, room 206 for a cardiac arrest. Engine 22 responded to the scene and assisted EMS with CPR and patient care until released by EMS.

Fuel Spill, 646 Main St (Box 22-1)

On a hot Saturday afternoon, a malfunctioning gas pump spilled approximately 35 gallons of fuel onto the roadway in the 600-Block of Main Street in Lykens Borough. Company-22 was dispatched to the scene, where approximately 15 gallons of AFFF foam and 1400 pounds of absorbant were used in the three hour cleanup of this incident. Dauphin County Haz Mat assisted on the scene with mitigation of the spilled product.

Medical Assist, 508 Main St (Box 22-11)

Company 22 was dispatched to assist EMS with a cardiac arrest call at the home of company secretary Dick Saltzer. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six, and other members went to the scene by POV. The crew was directed to a second floor bedroom to assist EMS with CPR on Mr. Saltzer. The patient was packaged and removed from the residence to an awaiting transport unit, which then went en route to the hospital. Brother Saltzer never regained consciousness. He passed away on September 17th, twelve days after this call.
