At the request of EMS from 24 on scene Company 22 dispatched class three to 801 Market Street in Lykens for a lift assist. Utility 22 responded with 4 and two additional members went POV. On arrival the crew assisted EMS with lifting a patient back into their chair and then went available.
As members were just backing into the station from the previous call, the 23-1 box was dispatched class one to 101 Arch Street in Wiconisco Township for a report of smoke in a duplex structure. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Truck 22 with 6. Engine 22 laid a 5 inch line from the Arch Street bridge 300 feet to the A/D corner of the structure. Truck 22 arrived and took the address while the crew laddered the building. Engine and Rescue 23 arrived, and crews went interior to investigate. Finding no smoke or problems, Companies 21, 24, and 27 were placed in service by Command 23. After Members of Engine 21 assisted Engine 22 and its crew with repacking their 5 inch, Company 22 was placed available by Command.
Box 22-1 dispatched on the automatic fire alarm sounding at 300 Chesnut Street in Lykens at the Alfa Laval Thermal Plant. The alarm was coming from the Cooper Building. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Truck 22 with 6. The Engine arrived on side A in the parking lot and sent a crew into the Cooper Building to investigate. Truck 22 staged at the A/B corner of the building. Engine 23 staged at the hydrant at Chestnut and Lehr Street, Investigation of the building found no problem and the box was placed in service.
Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 220 Church Street in Elizabethville at the Upper Dauphin High School for an automatic fire alarm. Chief 21-1 went enroute and advised units to hold in quarters. Truck 22 held in station with 10. Command later placed the box in service, false trip.

Medical Assist, 450 North Second Street (Box 22-1)
At the request of Medic 6-5, Company 22 dispatched to 450 North Second Street in Lykens for a medical assist. Truck 22 responded with 5, and Chief and Lieutenant 22 responded POV to the scene. On arrival, crew assisted with getting patient removed from the house and into the awaiting transport unit for a trip to rendezvous with Life Lion in Halifax.
Company-22 was dispatched per request of EMS to assist with a reported unconsious person at 419 Chestnut Street, since they (EMS) had an extended ETA. Engine-22, with six personnel, arrived on scene and found an unconsious patient in a living room chair. Personnel assessed the patient, got initial vital signs, and secured patient medical history prior to the arrival of EMS. The company then assisted with packaging and transfer of the patient to the ambulance. The company had approximately eleven personnel on the scene.
2000
Furnace Malfunction, 239 North Second St (Box 22-1)
Captain-22 received a call from the occupant of 239 North Second Street, reporting a smoke condition in the building. The resident was an invalid, unable and unwilling to leave structure. Truck-22 responded with a crew of four and informed County that they would handle the call without further assistance. Upon arrival they found a smoke condition in the building, a result of a faulty furnace. The property was vented and the furnace was shut down. A repair service arrived shortly afterward. The resident would not leave her home.
Friday, November 27, 1998, at 17:14, Dauphin County Station-22 (for an engine and BLS unit) and Station-23 (for a rescue unit) were dispatched for an accident with injuries in the Borough of Lykens at the intersection of Main and Edward Streets. BLS unit 6A responded from Station-22 immediately upon dispatch and arrived on scene in just over one minute. EMS Chief-22A, Jeff Shultz, reported that there were a total of four vehicles involved with only one injury and fluids on the roadway. Engine-22 under the command of Captain-22, Jim Hoffman, arrived approximately three minutes after dispatch. Rescue-23, commanded by Captain-23, Floyd "Short" Wertz, arrived one minute later. Members of both teams extricated the patient and assisted the local police department with scene traffic control and cleanup. Rescue-23 was released at 17:35 and Engine-22 cleared the scene at 17:55.
On Thanksgiving night, chief 22-1 reported a large volume of smoke appearing across from his residence, which seemed to be coming from behind the Don's Food Rite parking lot. Upon investigation, he discovered a fire in the Dracool Manufacturing Building on South Second Street and requested a structure assignment be dispatched. The dispatch brought Engine and Truck 22, Engine and Squad 23, and Engine 24. All units responded. Engine-22 positioned at side-1. Truck-22 set up behind the Engine and went to the roof. The fire was located to the rear of the second floor of the building in the office area. Unable to reach the seat of the fire from the Truck's location, Chief 22 requested Truck-20 to the scene. Upon their arrival, they set up in the alley on side-3 of the structure. An interior crew entered the building from side-1 and advanced a line to the second floor, where they were met with heavy fire and were able to achieve a knockdown. Positive Pressure ventilation was set up and the remaining smoke was cleared from the building. Extensive overhaul was performed by units on scene. Fire was believed to have started from a faulty coffee maker on a desk in the second floor office.
