The Millersburg fire company responded to the 200 block of West Street to extinguish a dumpster fire on December 1, 2006. Three teenagers were later charged with arson and disorderly conduct for starting the fire.

Tornado Hit the Halifax Area - Halifax Twp, Dauphin Co, PA
The John Rettinger poultry farm near Halifax lost a large barn to fire on December 1, 1956. In addition to equipment, approximately 700 chickens and 150 ducks were destroyed. Fire companies from Halifax, Powell?s Valley, and Fisherville responded. Note: This was the first fire call for the one-month-old Powell?s Valley Fire Company.

First Fire Call for Powells Valley Fire Company - Halifax, PA
Fire broke out at the foot of a stairway in the Chicago, Illinois, Our Lady of the Angels School on December 1, 1958. The elementary and middle school was operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. A total of 92 pupils and 3 nuns lost their lives when smoke, heat, and fire cut off their normal means of escape through corridors and stairways. Many perished while jumping from second-floor windows. Another 100 were seriously injured.
