2023
Rescue, Powells Valley Rd (Box 216-8)

Company 22 dispatched to the game lands south of Lykens on Powells Valley Road on the 216-8 box in Jackson Township to rescue a person that had fallen. Utility 22 responded with 2, Truck 22 with 4 and 4 members POV. On arrival they were met by a person along the road that would lead the crew back to where the patient was located. Rescue 23 and UTV 19 were added to the call for assistance in extrication. The crew gathered up EMS supplies, rope gear and a stokes and headed in. Rescue 23 arrived with 6 and used a chain saw to widen the pathway for the incoming UTV. Chief, UTV and Brush 19 arrived with 9 members and the UTV headed in. Patient contact was made, and the patient was assessed and packaged up on the stokes for the trip back out. The UTV met them along the trail and assisted with removal. Once extricated and brought out to Powells Valley Road, the patient was transferred to Medic 6 for a trip to the hospital. Command placed the box available.

Company 21, Engine 26 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 137 East Broad Street in Elizabethville for an automatic fire alarm at Lisi Oil Company. Chief 21 went enroute to the scene and on arrival and after investigating placed the box available before any response. Faulty detector.

Medical Assist, 608 Parkview Road (Box 22-2)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 608 Parkview Road on the 22-2 box in Lykens Boro for a medical assist. Chief 22 and 3 members responded POV to the scene and Engine 22 went enroute with 5. On arrival the crew assisted EMS until released by Medic 6.

Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 5074 Route 209 in Washington Township at the NAPA Auto Parts Store for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 responded with 4 and was placed in service by command 21 right after response.

Company 22 alerted to respond to 403 South Second Street in Lykens for a pump detail. Crew members responded to that location POV and pumped out the basement.

Medical Assist, Powells Valley Road (Box 216-8)
Detail >>
Company-22 was dispatched to assist EMS with the extrication of a patient from a wooded area above the Lykens Reservior. Truck-22 responded with a crew of seven and arrived on the scene with Medic-6 to find a patient with a foot injury, approximately 100 yards off the road. The crew placed the patient in a stokes basket, brought her out to the transport unit, and went available.

Truck-22 was dispatched to relocate to Millersburg Station-20 while Companies 20, 21, 26, and 29 were working a commercial structure fire at Wayne's Inn at 167 Center Street in Millersburg. The truck responded with a crew of five and stood by in Station-20 with Engine-26 and Squad-26 until released by Command-20.

Firefighters responded to the station at the sound of the hand pull alarm and were informed of an accident with injuries on the Glen Road. Engine 22 responded to the scene and assisted EMS until released.

In the early morning hours of May 28th, Company 22 dispatched for a reported car on fire in the parking lot next to the Lykens Dairy. Engine 22 responded and on arrival had a fully involved car on fire. The crew extinguished the fire, performed mop up, and then returned to quarters.

Fire alarm sounded from Fisher and Jones Paper Mill at 3 o'clock PM on May 28, 1903. The company responded promptly. In four minutes after the alarm sounded the company had water on the fire. The connection was made at the plug on Taylor's corner.

Accident - Truck Hit Pole - Upper Paxton Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

On Monday, May 28, 1934, a Ford truck driven by Mark Sherk, of Fredericksburg, missed a curve on the highway between Berrysburg and Millersburg, and struck a telephone pole. Sherk was thrown from the truck, sustaining injuries to his head and body. The injured man was taken to the office of Dr. Bogar for first aid, who ordered his removal to the hospital, where it was found that his skull, three ribs, and a shoulder had been fractured.
