2022
Brush Fire, 1652 Pottsville Street (Box 23-3)

Company 23 and Engine 22 dispatched class one to 1652 Pottsville Street on the 23-3 box in Wiconisco Township for a brush fire. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Utility 22 with 3. Two additional members responded POV. On arrival there was approximately one quarter of an acres of brush on fire. Engine 22 deployed one inch and three quarter line and worked the east flank of the fire and Utility 22 went in from the west flank. Company 23 members deployed one line from Tanker 23 and worked the middle towards both ends. The bulk of the visible fire was knocked down quickly and several hot spots needed to be extinguished before Company 22 was released by Command.

Structure Fire, 166 East Bonnie Ave (Box 21-1)

Company 21 and 26 and Truck 22 dispatched class 1 to 166 East Bonnie Avenue in Washington Township for a reported shed fire. Chief 21-1 on scene reported working fire with extension into a nearby garage and requested the first alarm. Truck 22 responded with 7, Engine 22 with 6, and Utility 22 with 1. On arrival of the Truck they staged on Bonnie Avenue and sent manpower to the rear of the address. Initial fire had been knocked down with extensive overhaul beginning. Command held the box to units on scene. Crews assisted with hot spot extinguishment and checked the approximately 25 foot by 75 foot garage less than 10 feet from the shed for extensions. Crew assisted until released by command.

Medical Assist, 15 South Second Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to the Rattling Creek Apartments at 15 South Second Street in Lykens Boro for a medical assist for a patient having difficulty breathing. EMS had an extended ETA. Truck 22 responded with 7 and Utility 22 with 2 and 3 additional members responded POV to the scene. On arrival the crew went to the 4th floor and established patient contact and got an initial set of vitals. Chief 24C was in the area and arrived on scene. The crew assisted him until the arrival of a medic unit from Company 6. The crew assisted in getting the patient to their transport unit and then cleared the box.

Medical Assist - Cardiac Arrest, 560 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 560 Main Street in Lykens to assist EMS with a cardiac arrest call. Engine 22 responded with 4, Utility 22 with 4, and Chiefs 22 and 22-1 and 2 additional firefighters responded POV to the scene. On arrival, the crew assisted EMS with CPR and continued until released and placed available.

CO Alarm, 616 North Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 and EMS dispatched class one to 616 North Street in Lykens for a carbon monoxide alarm. Chiefs 22-2 and 22 responded to the scene. Engine 22 responded with 5 and Truck 22 with 3. On arrival, crews went interior with the CO monitor and took readings which were all 0. EMS examined the occupant while crews investigated the residence. They found a CO detector with a dead backup battery and replaced it. Command then placed the box in service.

Structure Fire, 34 West Grand Avenue (Box S.C.)

Truck 22 dispatched class one to Schuylkill County in the Boro of Tower City to 34 West Grand Avenue for a reported structure fire. Truck 22 responded with 7, and was canceled enroute as they were passing Williamstown.

LZ setup, 387 Arch Street (Box 23-1)

Utility 22, having cleared the previous call, went enroute to the LZ at Station 23 class three to assist with the landing zone for the patient removed from the woods (see previous call). On arrival, crew assisted with transferring patient to Life Lion, and then went available.

Medical Assist, 7116 Powells Valley Rd (Box 216-8)

Company 22 dispatched class one to the 216-8 box in the woods behind the Lykens Water Treatment Plant to assist EMS with a hunter having chest pains. Chief 22 and Lieutenant 22 responded POV to the scene, and Utility 22 went enroute with 4. On arrival, crews walked back into the woods behind the plant about 200 feet to the location where a hunter was down. Crew started treatment and placed patient in a stokes and walked him out to the waiting EMS unit in the plant parking lot. The Utility cleared the scene and then went enroute to the LZ (see next call).

Accident with injuries, 239 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Engine 22 and Rescue 23 dispatched to 239 Main Street in Lykens Boro for a report of a vehicle accident with possible injuries. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Chief 22 POV to the scene. On his arrival, ,Chief 22 placed Rescue 23 in service. Engine 22 arrived on scene and stabilized both vehicles. An EMT from Medic 6 on scene advised that there was one pediatric patient to be transported. PSP also on scene. After the arrival of "Recovery 21", the vehicles were towed and the scene cleared up, with command placing the company available.

Medical Assist, 801 Market Street (Box 22-2)

Company 22 dispatched class three to assist EMS at 801 Market Street in Lykens. Medic 6 had a large patient that needed help getting back into his chair. Truck 22 responded with 7, Engine 22 with 6. On arrival, apparatus staged on Laurel Lane and Market Streets and assisted EMS with helping the patient to get up and back into his chair. After completing that task, crews went available.

Structure Fire, 240 East Market Street (Box 24-1)

Truck-22 was dispatched to Williamstown on a first alarm assignment along with Companies 24, 23, and 66 for a report of a fire in a laundry room of an apartment building. Truck-22 was canceled before response and the box was held to Tanker-24.

Smoke from a Structure, 6690 Route 209 (Box 23-3)

Companies 23, 22, 24, 21, and 66 were dispatched for a report of smoke coming from the Kimmel Coal Company property. Initial dispatch was for the coal property on Route-209 East of Lykens, but later was corrected to the facility on Machamer Avenue. Engine-22 responded with a crew of four. Chief 23-2 on board Engine-23 arrived on scene, and shortly there after placed the box in service.

Vehicle Accident - Upper Paxton Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

On Monday, November 26, 1934, at 8:30 in the evening, George Spotts of Millersburg RD figured in an accident when his Chevrolet sedan refused to respond to his will and crashed into a truck operated by his nephew, Ray Spotts, about four miles west of Elizabethville. The truck was owned by Mrs. Irene Lebo and carried a cargo of chickens and eggs. After hitting the truck, the car ran into a nearby field. As a result of the accident, George Spotts was suffering from shock and possible internal injuries. He was taken to the Harrisburg Hospital. Ray was found to have a lacerated nose and was given first aid by a local physician. Patrolman Shoop investigated the accident and reported that both vehicles were badly damaged.
