Fire occurred at the Short Mountain Slope. The house alarm sounded by blowing a whistle at 10:25 AM. J.F. Foster pulled the carriage by hand to the [Market Street] bridge at Wiconisco. There the carriage was met by Superintendent of the Mines, T.M. Williams, and attached to a buggy to be pulled to the scene. The hose was connected to a pump near Bull Engine House. Superintendent Williams told Chief J.F. Foster to submit the time of all members who worked the fire and to report all hose damage for payment by the mines.

One section of hose was busted and two were scorched. The pressure on the hose was 550 psi. Property damage was estimated to be $15,000.
