Rowand Taylor Burned at the Stake
Hadleigh, England

February 9, 1555

Rowand Taylor burnt at Hadleigh, in England, for resisting the establishment of papal worship in his church. Great efforts were made to induce him to recant, which he firmly rejected, and proceeded to the stake with great courage. During the burning, he stood without crying or moving until one of the executioners struck him on the head and his corpse fell down into the fire.
