Fetterhoff House Fire - Coaldale
Wiconisco Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

March 10, 1906

The two-story frame dwelling house at Coaldale (Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County), belonging to Frank Fetterhoff, and occupied by his son Edward, was completely destroyed by fire on the afternoon of Saturday, March 10, 1906. Mrs. Fetterhoff had gone to a neighbor's house, leaving her two little daughters alone. When she returned, she found the house in flames. The children were rescued with great danger , their clothing being scorched and their hair partly burnt. Mr. Fetterhoff lost $108, which he had saved for a rainy day, and a border lost $10. It was supposed that the fire started from a hot coal falling from the grate of the cook stove onto the floor.
