Engine 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 4314 Route 209 in Washington Township at Rite Screen for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 went enroute with 4 and was canceled while responding by Chief 21, alarm set off by dust.

Medical Assist, 439 South Second Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 dispatched class one to 439 South Second Street in Lykens to assist EMS with patient extrication. Chief 22 responded POV and Truck 22 with 7. On arrival, the crew assisted EMS with moving the patient from the second floor to their transport unit, and then went available.

Company 22 dispatched to 419 Chestnut Street in Lykens to assist Medic 6 with lifting a patient. Chief 22 responded to the scene POV. Truck 22 responded with 5, and was placed available by Chief 22 prior to arrival on scene.

Smoke in a Structure, 570 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22, Engine 23, and Rescue 21 were dispatched to 570 Main Street for a report of smoke coming from the roof. A resident across the street saw smoke in the area of the roof and called 911. Engine 22 responded with a crew of six, Truck 22 responded with a crew of three, and Chief 22 responded POV. The Engine was positioned on side A, with Truck 22 coming in from the opposite direction and arriving on sides A/D. Engine 23 responded with a crew of six and took a position on Side C, in the alley to the rear of the address. Rescue 21 responded with a crew of five. Crews found the owner of 572 Main Street out front, and he advised that there was no smoke or odor in his residence. Crews entered the 570 Main Street structure from the rear entrance and, after checking the interior from basement to attic, found nothing. Finding no smoke or odor on the exterior, Command placed the box in service, with Rescue 21 being canceled prior to arrival on scene.

Electrical Fire, 232 East Broad Street (Box 24-1)

Truck 22 was dispatched, along with Engine 23, Engine 24, Engine 66, Tanker 24, and Rescue 66, to 232 East Broad Street in Williamstown for an odor of something electrical burning in the first floor kitchen. Truck 22 responded with a crew of five, and staged on scene behind Tanker 24. The truck crew assisted with a search of the structure for the source of the odor, but the source was never found. The homeowner was going to have a certified electrician go through the entire house following the release of fire units on scene. No fire was evident, and Command 24 placed the units available.

Halifax Apartment Fire - Halifax, PA

Fire broke out in an apartment building at Second and Armstrong Streets in Halifax on January 4, 1994. The blaze began in a couch in the living room of a second-floor apartment. One man died in the fire and another man died a few days later from injuries he received at the fire. Fifteen residents of the six-unit apartment building were displaced by the fire.

Berry Mountain Cabin Stove Explosion - near Millersburg, PA

A kerosene stove in a cabin on Berry Mountain exploded at around 2 a.m. on January 4, 1952. . Richard Lenker, 19, was hospitalized with burns and deep lacerations on both of his arms. Nine other people had minor injuries. The occupants of the cabin extinguished the fire using snow. The fire department was not called.

On January 4, 1904,while work was being done on Iowa's state capitol building, a disastrous fire occurred in the north wing, presumably started by a workman's candle. It damaged the House chamber, Supreme Court chamber, and other offices.

Palace of Whitehall Fire - London, England

A fire on January 4, 1698 destroyed most of the residential and government buildings of the Palace of Whitehall in London, the main residence of the English monarchs. During the fire, many art masterpieces were destroyed, probably including Michelangelo's Cupid, a famous sculpture bought as part of the Gonzaga collections in the seventeenth century.
