Chief 22-1 received a phone call from the resident at 760 Main street in Lykens that tree limbs had come down around the front of her property. He contacted the station and then went to the scene POV. Utility 22 went enroute with 4 and one firefighter POV. On arrival the limbs were cut up and cleared around the property. The company was then placed available.
While on the scene of the previous tree down by the Sewer plant the company was alerted to another tree down at 801 Market street in Lykens. After clearing the previous event, Utility 22 with 4, Chief 22-1 and 3 additional firefighters POV responded. On arrival they found a very large tree that had come down and was up against the residence having pulled down and wrapped some wires in the limbs. The occupant of the residence was checked and found to be OK with no loss of power. Loose limbs and debris were cleaned up and the owner advised to contact her insurance company to have repairs made. The company then went available.
Station 22 received a phone call from Chief 22-2 advising of a tree down at the intersection of North street and Arlington street in front of the Sewer plant. Chief 22-2 and Lieutenant 22 all ready on scene. Chief 22-1 and Utility 22 with 4 and one additional member POV went to the scene. On arrival the crew used two chain saws to cut up the tree and the Boro pushed the limbs off the roadway. With the roadway reopened the company went available.
Station 22 received a phone call from the Wiconisco Township snow plow driver advising that Race street in the area of the girls softball field had a tree down blocking the roadway. Chief 22-1 went POV to the scene and Utility 22 went enroute with 2. On arrival, the crew used a chain saw and cut up the tree and Wiconisco Township used their plow to push the limbs off the roadway. The road was reopened and units placed available.
Company 22 dispatched class three to the area near 426 Main street in Lykens for wires arcing. Chief 22-1 went enroute POV and Utility 22 went with 2. On arrival it was determined from the caller to be in the alley to the rear of that address. After searching the area nothing was found and the company went available.
Truck 22 dispatched to 384 North Crossroads Road in Lykens Township for a reported structure fire. Further updates downgraded the call to a chimney fire. Truck 22 responded with 7 and was canceled shortly after response.
Company 22 dispatched class three to 801 Market Street in Lykens to assist a patient that had fallen and was not injured. EMS had an extended ETA. Truck 22 responded with 5 and 3 additional members POV. On arrival the crew assisted the patient from the floor to a chair and then went available.
Company 21 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 80 North Market Street in Elizabethville at the Library for an automatic fire alarm. Before response, Command 21 placed the Truck in service as it was a false activation.
Truck 22 dispatched class one to Porter Township, village of Muir, 305 East Washington Street for a reported basement fire. Truck 22 responded with 7 and Utility 22 with 2. On arrival, the Truck crew set up ladders on all 4 sides of a 1 and 1/2 story single family dwelling, with crews from Muir and Tower City in the basement with a knock on the fire. Crew assisted with checking for extension with the TIC, and then were released by Command 650. Units on scene included Schuylkill Companies 650, 66, 647, 810 and 58. Dauphin County units included 22 and 23.
Truck 22 dispatched in place of Truck 20 to Upper Paxton Township, 212 Pearl Street, for a reported chimney fire. Truck 22 responded with 6, and was placed available by command 20 while enroute.

Traffic Control, Main and Market Streets (Box 22-1)
Company 22 fire police requested to assist the Boro with traffic control while crews were removing some of the recent heavy snowfall from Main and Market Streets in Lykens. A total of 6 company 22 members assisted the Boro with traffic re-routing while the snow was being removed.
Company 22 dispatched class three to assist EMS at 801 Market Street in Lykens with a fall victim. Truck 22 responded with 3 and LT 22-1 responded POV to the scene. On arrival, apparatus staged on Laurel Lane and Market Streets and assisted EMS with helping the patient to get up. After completing that task, crews went available.
Company 24, Engine 23, Engine and Rescue 66, and Truck 22 were dispatched to 312 East Spruce Street in Williamstown for a reported oven fire. Truck 22 responded with a crew of seven, staged on Ray Street, and sent manpower to the scene to assist with venting the trailer. The owner had burned an apple pie in the oven, and there was no fire when firefighters arrived. The Truck 22 crew assisted with airing out the residence before being released by command.
Fire broke out in the basement of the Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lykens at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 1954, causing between $8,000 and $10,000 in damage. The fire was caused by a defective piece of wiring in the furnace room. It spread from the basement to the north wall partition, and except for the quick response of the fire companies and the fine work of the firemen on the scene, the fire would have resulted in the complete destruction of the building and possibly adjoining properties. The fire was very stubborn and hard to get at. The intense heat and smoke hampered the firemen for some time and they were forced to use gas masks to get at the source of the blaze. Fireman from Liberty Hose Company No. 2 of Lykens were assisted by the Wiconisco Fire Company, Williamstown Fire Company, and the Reliance Hose Company No. 1 of Elizabethville. The fine cooperation between the companies was one of the reasons that damage was not more disastrous. Most of the damage was confined to the basement and the church sanctuary itself was not seriously harmed except for some smoke and water damage. While repairs were being made for the several weeks following the fire, morning services were not held at the church. Sunday School was held in the Masonic Hall on Market Street each Sunday morning and evening services were held in Christ Episcopal Church at the corner of North Second Street and Market Street.
A single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 225 in Jackson Township on February 13, 2007. The driver of a vehicle was injured when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a house.
On February 13, 2008, an accident occurred in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, PA, near Grantville, in which a propane truck hit a telephone pole, rolled on to its side, and caught fire. A total of 84 fire apparatus from Fire Companies in Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, Cumberland, and Schuylkill counties were dispatched to the scene to assist over the course of the lengthy incident. Apparatus assisting from upper Dauphin County, included Fisherville's Takner 216, Millersburg's Tanker 20, Wiconisco's Tanker 23, and Williamstown's Tanker 24. Master streams were used to cool the tanker while the propane burned. Our local area tankers shuttled numerous loads of water to the scene from Memorial Lake in Lebanon County before returning home the following day.

San Francisco City Hall Dome Fire - San Francisco, CA
A fire occurred at the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity at California University in California, Pennsylvania on February 13, 1992. One student died in the fire.
A fire occurred during a show at the Statuto Cinema in Turin, Italy, on Sunday, February 13, 1983. The fire began on the ground floor of the two-story cinema and quickly set several seats ablaze. The seats had plastic covers and produced toxic smoke when they burned. The crowd panicked and ran toward the exits, causing a stampede in which several people were crushed to death. Firefighters responded quickly, but found that the rear emergency exits were locked. They were forced open the doors and found the bodies of several people who had died while trying to escape. The firefighters were able to get the fire under control before it spread to the upper floor and balcony. On the first level, they found 37 people who had been killed by burns, smoke inhalation or injuries from the stampede. On the second level, they found another 37 people, many in a bathroom, who had perished from smoke inhalation. Almost everyone who was on the second floor when the fire started had died.
On February 13, 1975, in New York City, a fire occurred in the World Trade Center North Tower, which spread over nearly half of the eleventh floor. The fire also spread to other floors through openings in the floor slabs which were used to carry phone wires. The fires on other floors were extinguished almost immediately, and the main fire was put out in a few hours. Fireproofing protected the steel from melting and there was no structural damage to the tower. This event led to the installation of a sprinkler system in both towers. Firefighters claim that had the sprinklers been installed when the tower was built, the fire probably would not have spread as much as it did. Other than the damage caused by the fire, a few floors below suffered water damage from the extinguishment activities above.
On the morning of February 13, 1905, fire destroyed the Battle House, Mobile, Alabama's, historic hotel. The fire also destroyed the Commercial Hotel and several adjoining buildings, including the Graham Printing Company. There was no loss of life, however the fire chief and a fireman were injured by falling bricks. The loss was about $400,000.
