2019
Chimney Fire, 528 North Second Street (Box 22-1)

Chief 22-2 received a phone call from the residents at 528 North Second Street in Lykens that they had heavy black smoke coming out of their chimney. He responded to the scene and after assessing the situation requested that the comm center dispatch Company 22 to the scene. Engine 22 responded with 6 and approached the scene by way of Market Street and set up on the D side of the structure. Truck 22 responded with 7 and accessed the scene by way of Pine Street and took the A side address. Utility 22 responded with 3 and staged behind Engine 22. Initial size-up had heavy black smoke coming from the chimney. The resident shut off the furnace before evacuating the structure and the smoke dissipated. The Truck crew went to the roof while the Engine crew went to the basement with a meter. High levels of CO were detected in the basement and the PPV fan from the Truck was set up to ventilate the building, which was a 2 and 1/2 story wood frame single family dwelling. Crews ran chains down the chimney and cleared out what they could and removed the chimney cap. The resident contacted a furnace repair service to work on the furnace. After the CO levels were lowered to 0 PPM the crews took up and command placed the box available.

Accident with no injury, 600 block Main Street (Box 22-1)

At the request of Chief 22 on scene, Utility 22 dispatched class three to the 600 block of Main Street to assist with traffic control as a result of a two vehicle non injury accident. Utility 22 responded with 5 and on arrival, split the crew and directed traffic around the incident until the towing company had cleared one of the vehicles from the scene, and then went available.

Accident with no injuries, 670 Main Street (Box 22-3)

Captain 27 on scene reported an accident with no injuries in front of the Boyers Grocery store at 670 Main Street in Lykens. Engine 22 and Rescue 23 were dispatched. Chief 22, who lives across the street, was on location in seconds, and placed Rescue 23 available. Engine 22 responded with 6 and on arrival found two vehicles on the roadway blocking traffic, with no apparent injuries. Company 22 crew assisted PSP with scene safety, cleanup and traffic control until released by command.

Medical Assist, 526 Pine Street (Box 22-1)

Engine-22 was dispatched per request of EMS to assist with a possible cardiac arrest in a garage to the rear of 526 Pine Street. Engine personnel arrived on scene and assisted with patient care until signal-12 was declared.

Engine 22 was dispatched non-emergency to the 200 block of Market Steet to wash down some debris spilled from a passing truck. Engine 22 responded, and on arrival, pulled a trash line and washed debris into the storm drain, then went available.
