Medical Assist, 922 Main Street (Box 22-2)

At the request of 24 EMS Company 22 dispatched class three to 922 Main street in Lykens for a lift assist. Utility 22 responded with 3 and Chief 22-1 and two additional members responded POV to the scene. On arrival the crew assisted EMS with removal of the patient from their residence and placed on board their transport unit for a trip to the hospital, and then were placed available.
2021
Structure Fire, 9212 Route 209 (Box 24-3)

Company 22 dispatched class one on the 24-3 box to 9212 Route 209 in Williams Township for a garage fire. One of 24's officers reported a glow in the sky and requested the box be upgraded to a working fire. Truck 22 responded with 5, Engine 22 with 4, Utility 22 with 1, and two additional members POV. On arrival of a 40 by 40 concrete block garage fully involved, the truck beached in the parking lot and sent manpower forward. Engine 22 went up the driveway about 100 yards off the road and supplied Tanker 24 all ready on scene. Engine 24 laid 5 inch from Route 209 up to Engine 22 and they were supplied by Engine 27. Utility 22 arrived and beached. Crew did extinguishment and overhaul of the building which was now to the ground. Muir Engine 22-11 that was staged down on 209 acted as the cover engine and stood by with a crew. Tankers from Joliet, Berrysburg, Pillow, Fisherville, Elizabethville, Wiconisco and other manpower units were also on scene. After control, command began releasing companies and Company 22 was placed available and returned available.

Electrical Odor Inside, 182 Engle Road (Box 21-5)

Company 21, Engine and Tanker 26 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to the Goodwill Building at 182 Engle Road in Washington Township for a report of an electrical odor inside the building. Engine 21 went enroute with 4, Rescue 21 with 5, Tanker 21 with 1, Engine 26 with 5, Tanker 26 with 1, and Truck 22 with 7. On arrival at a one story metal frame business that was 100 foot by 50 foot, the Truck was directed to side A where it was set up and a crew went to the roof to investigate. Interior crews from 21 found a light ballast burned up. Command placed the box in service.

Structure Fire, 2045 East Grand Avenue (Box S.C.)

Truck 22 dispatched to Porter Township, Schuylkill County to 2045 East Grand Avenue in Reinerton for a report of smoke in a bedroom. Truck 22 responded class one with 4 and was canceled enroute.
2008
Flooding, 403 South Second Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 was alerted to a basement flooding call at 403 South Second Street. Four members took a submersible pump to the location by POV and pumped about one foot of water from the basement. The water was a result of the homeowner's sump pump failing to run due to a power interruption in the basement.

Relocate, Station 21 (Box 29-6)

Engine-22 was dispatched to relocate to Station-21. Companies 29, 216, 21, 20, 26, and 38 were on the scene of a multiple row house fire in Halifax Borough, with numerous other companies from the surrounding areas being called up to assist. With only enough crew to staff one piece and no other truck companies available in the entire area, Chief 22-2 contacted the communication center and requested they send another engine and our crew would remain on standby in Station-22, being able to take either Engine-22 or Truck-22 if needed. Engine-23 was dispatched in Engine-22's place and they relocated to Station-21. Additional members soon arrived at the station and were able to fill out a crew for both apparatus. They remained on unofficial standby for the duration of the incident.

Truck 22 was dispatched to Schuylkill County for a report of smoke in a church. The truck was canceled almost immediately by Schuylkill County.

Bombing of Tokyo Fire - Tokyo, Japan

During World War II, on the night of March 9, 1945, 334 B-29s dropped around 120,000 fire bombs on Tokyo, Japan. Approximately 16 square miles of the city was destroyed by the resulting firestorm and over 100,000 people are estimated to have died. The destruction and damage was at its worst in the city sections east of the Imperial Palace.
