Smoke from a Structure, Rt 209 and Coaldale Rd (Box 23-3)

Companies 23 and 22 and Rescue 21 were dispatched to the intersection of Route 209 and Pottsville Street (Coaldale Road) for a report of smoke coming from a structure. Chief 23 responded POV to the scene and assumed command. Engine 23 responded with a crew of six, Truck 22 responded with a crew of six, and Engine 22 responded with a crew of four. Later Tanker 22 responded with a crew of two to replace Tanker 23. Chief 23 found that the residents of the home had just lit their wood burner, causing the smoke. Chief 23 placed the box in service as all units arrived on scene.

Company-22 was dispatched class-3 to assist EMS with lifting. Engine-22 responded with a crew of six and, upon arrival, assisted Medic-6 personnel with packaging of the patient and transfer to the ambulance. Company-22 was placed available after the patient was loaded on board the ambulance.

Medical Assist, 560 North Second St (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched to 560 North Second Street in Lykens for a cardiac arrest call. Engine 22 responded, and on arrival assisted EMS with patient care and stabilization until released by EMS.

Barn Fire - Jackson Twp, Dauphin Co, PA

At 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, October 1, 1934, fire of undetermined origin destroyed the barn on the farm of Thomas Enders near Fisherville. The fire occurred while a number of men worked in the field cutting corn. Hay and grain, a large percentage of Enders' farm machinery, and sixteen head of sheep were also destroyed. The horses and cows were lead from the barn to safety. To the call for help, the fire companies of Fisherville and Halifax responded. But, because of the headway made before their arrival, they were unable to save the structure.
