Companies 22 and 23 were dispatched to an apartment building located at 409 Market Street for a report of smoke coming from the second floor. Engines 22 and 23 responded, and upon arrival, the crews forced entry to the second floor apartment and found an un-attended pan of meat left cooking on the stove that had burned dry and filled the apartment with smoke. Crews opened windows and vented the apartment. They then went available.
While company members were at Station-22 washing apparatus and cleaning up Truck-22 from the fire a few days before, the company was dispatched for a report of a vehicle fire on Division Street in the Borough. Engine-22 responded in less than a minute with a crew of six, and arrived on scene to find a pickup truck with an engine compartment fire, well off. The owner, rather distraught, was attempting to extinguish the fire. He was taken to a safe distance, as the crew pulled one hand line and extinguished the fire. The pickup truck's engine compartment was destroyed. An assist for traffic control was provided by Borough Councilman Brad Snyder, as this was next door to his residence. Engine-22 went available and the crew returned to Station-22 to finish cleanup.
1997
Multiple Structures, 206-214 E Grand Ave (Box S.C.)
Truck 22 dispatched to Schuylkill County, Boro of Tower City, for a reported structure fire. Companies also dispatched included Tower City, Sheridan, Muir, Orwin, Reinerton, and Joliett from Schuylkill County and Williamstown from Dauphin County. Truck 22 responded with 5, and upon arrival on scene observed approximately 4 fully involved row homes with extension to adjoining structures. Initial assignment for the Truck was to proceed down the alley behind the block involved, and come into the scene from the east side and set up at Mione's Store to halt the spread of the fire. Truck boom placed in service, and crew laddered the structures involved and trench cut the roof of the most easterly affected building and halted any further extension in that direction. Truck 20 (Millersburg) was special called to assist, and upon their arrival, they were instructed to set up at the western side structure and they halted any further extension in that direction. Water supply was a significant issue, with limited availablity throughout the incident. Engine 22 special called, and responded with 6. On arrival, they set up on side 3 to the rear, and were supplied by Engine 66. They placed their deck gun in operation to help extinguish main body of fire. Crew continued to assist with suppression activities. No further fire spread occurred, but original buildings involved were destroyed. Crews remained on scene well into the night putting out hot spots.
Truck 22 was dispatched in place of Truck 20 for a shed fire in Upper Paxton Township. Truck 22 was canceled before responding when Truck 20 went en route.
Tanker 22 was dispatched to assist on a structure fire in Porter Township, Schuylkill County, at 71 Porter Road. Sheridan, Reinerton, Muir, Orwin, Joliett, and Williamstown fire companies were also on the call. Tanker 22 responded to the scene with a crew of two, and remained there until released by command 647.
Box 24-2 dispatched class one to 9781 Route 208 to the Twin Valley Alliance Church in Williams Township for an automatic fire alarm. Truck 22 responded with 3, and was placed in service while enroute by Special Unit 24.
2014
Fuel spill inside, 559 North Second Street (Box 22-1)
Company 22 dispatched class three to 559 North Second Street in Lykens for a report of a fuel oil smell inside the structure. Engine 22 responded with 3, and Chiefs 22 and 22-2 responded POV to the scene. On arrival, crews found a leaking fitting on the oil furnace that they plugged, and after EMS cleared all the occupants, command placed the box in service.
Company 22 dispatched class three to 641 Main Street in Lykens for a fuel spill. Chief 22 responded from his residence next door, and found about 15 gallons of home heating oil spilled from a barrel that fell off the back of a parked pickup truck. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Utility 22 with 3. On arrival, crew used high dry to soak up the fuel and assisted the truck owner with transferring the remaining fuel to containers for transport from the scene. Lykens PD also on scene. After completing the cleanup, command placed the company available.
2017
Accident with no injuries, 543 South Second Street (Box 22-1)
At the request of Lieutenant 22 on scene, Engine 22 dispatched class three to 543 South Second Street in Lykens for a 3 vehicle accident with no injuries. This location was about 100 feet from the fire station. Engine 22 responded with 5 and Chief 22 POV. Lieutenant 22 heard the crash from his home and came out to find a vehicle had struck two parked cars and the driver was out and not injured. Additional members responded POV and the utility responded with 1. A total of 13 members were on scene. Crews secured the vehicles and cleaned up debris and provided traffic control until released by command.
Company 22 dispatched class one to 761 Main Street in Lykens for a medical assist. EMS had an extended eta. Chief 22 responded to the scene along with Utility 22 with 2 and Truck 22 with 6. On arrival the crew initiated patient care and established initial vitals until the arrival of medic 6. After assisting them with transfer of the patient to their transport unit the company was placed available.
