Brush fire, 3315 Back Road (Box 19-1)

Engine 22 dispatched class one to 3315 Back Road in Jefferson Township to assist numerous companies on a brush fire. Engine 22 responded with 5 and Utility 22 with 4. On arrival, the crew was directed to 416 Carsonville Road and went there and set up some crew members to head back into the mountain on board several ATVs to the location of the fire where they worked on extinguishment for several hours using brush rakes shovels and leaf blowers. The Engine stayed at the base camp and refilled brush rigs and ATVs as they returned with more water. This continued until released by command.
2018
Accident with entrapment, 731 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 and Rescues 21 and 23 dispatched class one to the area in front of 731 main Street in Lykens for a single vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment. Lykens PD on scene confirming entrapment. Engine 22 responded with 5, Truck 22 with 4 and Utility 22 with 4. Rescue 23 responded with 4. On arrival of Engine 22 they found one vehicle broadside on Main Street upside down with the driver entrapped. Patient care was started by PD and the Engine crew assisted. On the arrival of Rescue 23 the drivers side door was removed while the 22 crew stabilized the vehicle with cribbing from Rescue 23. The patient was able to get out on her own and was turned over to Medic 6. Extrication was marked at 21:11. Command placed Rescue and Utility 21 in service. Crews remained on scene until the vehicle was righted and then removed by a wrecker. Two additional parked vehicles had also been struck. The Engine, Rescue and Truck were placed available and the utility remained to direct traffic around the scene until all vehicles were removed. Command then placed the box available.
1988
Dump Fire, Bud's Dump (Box 23-1)

Lykens and Wiconisco fire companies were dispatched at 1:05 PM to respond to a report of a fire in the Bud Miller Dump on Coaldale Road. Company-23 arrived and found piles of debris and old cars burning and immediately requested the assistance of tankers from Elizabethville and Williamstown. A water shuttle was set up to a porta tank on Coaldale Road to supply Engine-22, which had run a line down into the dump to supply Engine-23. It was during this incident that the pump operator on Engine-23 suffered a heart attack and was removed by EMS from the scene to the hospital, where he was to remain for a few days before coming home. The fire was successfully extinguished, followed up by a visit to the site by several officials from various state agencies.
