Accident w/injuries, 6833 Rt 209 (Box 23-19)

On Thanksgiving evening, shortly after Medic 6 had returned from a call, they were proceeding to Elizabethville from Lykens with two paramedics on board when they encountered extremely icy conditions on Route 209, and the unit was involved in an accident with another vehicle, slid off the road and overturned, coming to rest against an embankment just West of the Borough. Engine 22 and Squad 23 were dispatched for an accident with unknown injuries, based on a call over med channel 9 from one of the two paramedics involved in the crash. Both companies responded, and upon arrival found both medics outside the vehicle, self-extricated. The crews handled scene cleanup and traffic control, while both medics were transported by EMS for evaluation. Crews remained on the scene until the Medic unit was removed and towed away.

Rescue Fallen Hunter, State Game Lands (Box 23-11)

Company-22 was dispatched to assist Company-23 with the rescue of a fallen hunter in the mountain North of Wiconisco. Company members gathered at Station-22, and then rode by POV and ambulance to the entrance to the PA game road above Wiconisco. Crews went back about two miles with EMS to assist in packaging the patient to bring him out to the awaiting ambulance. The patient suffered severe leg injury and was transported to the hospital.

Garage Fire, 131 N. 2nd St (Box 22-1)

A box alarm was dispatched for a garage on fire at the Rudisill residence at the corner of North Second and Division Streets in the Borough. Engine 22 responded with a crew of eight, along with Engine and Squad 23. The Engine arrived on scene to find a car on fire inside a garage, with fire that had spread to and engulfed the interior of the garage. The Engine crew pulled two handlines and extinguished the fire, with the car being totally destroyed along with a mower that was inside the garage. The interior of the garage had heavy damage. After extinguishment, crews performed overhaul and were eventually released by command.

There was a fire at St. Mary's Catholic Church Convent on Tuesday morning, November 28, 1933. The fire started above the furnace in the cellar.

Fire occurred on Sunday Morning, November 28th, at the house of A. F. Endelbert on Main Street, occupied by Samuel Blyler. The alarm was sounded around 10:55 AM. Rescue Hose Company was the first on the ground. We had first water. The cause of the fire was a defective flue. Damage was $300 to property and $120 to furniture. The furniture was insured.
