2023
Accident with no injury, 557 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class three to the area in front of 557 Main Street in Lykens for a multi vehicle crash with no injuries. Chief 22-2 responded POV and Engine 22 went enroute with 4. Seven additional members responded POV to the scene. On arrival Engine 22 staged in the Mid Penn Bank parking lot. A work truck, pickup truck, dumpster and SUV were involved and partially blocking a lane of traffic. All traffic was diverted at Main and Market and Main and Pine Streets during the event.The crew secured scene safety and assisted PSP and remained until two of the vehicles and the dumpster were removed from the scene. Command then placed the box available.

Smoke in a structure, 104 Brenda Drive (Box 20-1)

Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 20-1 box to 104 Brenda Drive in Upper Paxton Township for a report of smoke in a structure. Truck 22 responded with 6 and was canceled while enroute by Chief 20-1.
2019
Pole Fire, 641 North Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 dispatched class three to 641 North Street in Lykens Boro for a pole fire. Chiefs 22 and 22-2 responded POV to the scene. Engine 22 responded with 6 and Utility 22 with 5. On the arrival of Chief 22-2 he found active fire and smoke from a pole in the yard next to a trailer. The PPL pole at the street was relayed to County and PPL was requested. The occupant of the trailer stated that he was without power and had seen flames and smoke coming from the electrical box below the meter which was now out. Crews remained on scene until the arrival of PPL and then went available.

Tree down, Rt 209 and Hill Street (Box 23-3)

While the Utility was enroute to a public service traffic detail in Millersburg it came across a tree that had just fallen across Route 209 and Hill Street in Wiconisco Township. A request was made for Attack 23 to respond to the scene. Chiefs 23 and 23-1 arrived on scene with Attack 23 which had 2 members. The scene was turned over to Company 23 and Utility 22 continued on to Millersburg.

Medical Assist, 219 North Street (Box 22-1)
Detail >>
Company 22 dispatched class one to 219 North Street in Lykens for a medical assist, EMS had an extended ETA. Utility 22 responded with 3 and Chief 22 and one other member POV. On arrival, the crew began patient care until the arrival of EMS and was then placed available.

Haz Mat, 9569 Route 209 (Box 24-2)

Truck and Engine 22 requested class three by Chief 24 to assist Company 24 at the Family Dollar Store on Route 209 in Williams Township with an ammonia leak in the store. Truck 22 responded with 7 and Engine 22 with 4. On arrival, the crew assisted Chief and Engine 24 with ventilating the store and taking readings. Crews assisted until the store was cleared, and were placed available by command 24.

Medical Assist, 15 South Second Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to the Rattling Creek Apartments to assist EMS with gaining entry with the Knox Box for a medical emergency. Company 22 placed in service before response when EMS was able to enter the building.

Search Detail, Greenland Road (Box 19-4)
Detail >>
Companies 22 and 23 dispatched class three to the Weiser State Forest in the area of the Greenland Road in Jefferson Township to assist Company 19 with a search detail, attempting to find a lost hiker. As the company was about to respond with 10 members, the hiker was found and command placed the company available.

Fire, Chas. Bueck's Laundry
Detail >>
The second fire of the year, but the first fire in the borough occurred at Charles Bueck's Laundry on August 4, 1899, in the West Ward in the alley between Main and South Second Streets and Pine and West Streets. The alarm sounded. Members responded and took apparatus to the plug on the corner of South Second and Pine Streets. No attachment was made. Second Assistant Chief T. E. Ely ordered the apparatus returned to the house. Damage done to the laundry was estimated at $1.
