Engine-22 was requested by PSP to respond to the 400-Block of Main Street to clean up the scene of a gunshot suicide victim. Engine-22 responded with a crew of three and used several PW's to wash down the crime scene. The crew was released by PSP.

Smoke in a Structure, 525 Pottsville Street (Box 23-1)

Engine-22 and Tanker-22 were dispatched for smoke in a structure at 525 Pottsville Street in Wiconisco. The company was placed in service by command before response.
2007
Basement flooding, 537 Spruce Street (Box 22-1)

While the line officers were attending a meeting at Station 22, Dauphin County paged Chief 22 to call the communications center. The Chief was advised of a water line break in the basement of the multi-family apartment building on Spruce Street, which was formerly the old opera house. Chiefs 22 and 22-1 responded class 3 to the scene, and requested Engine 22 to respond to assist. Engine 22 responded class 3, and found that Chief 22-1 had shut off the water line to the laundry room in the basement. Approximately five inches of water covered the floor. A portable trash pump was placed in the laundry room and the water was pumped outside to the street, after which, the crew cleaned up the equipment and went available.

CO Alarm, 131 North Second Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 141 North Second Street in Lykens for a report of carbon monoxide alarms going off inside. Chief 22 responded POV on arrival assumed command, Engine 22 with 6, and Truck 22 with 5. The Engine arrived on side D and the Truck took side A. Lieutenant 22 took a crew interior with the CO monitor and had 0 on the meter readings. Further investigation determined that there was no carbon monoxide in the home, and command placed the box in service.

Structure Fire, 581 Wolf Hole Road (Box 216-2)

Truck 22 dispatched class one on the first alarm for a working structure fire at 581 Wolf Hole Road in Jackson Township on the 216-2 box. Truck 22 responded with 7, and on arrival was advised to stage the rig and send manpower forward to the scene. Crews assisted with suppression activities followed by overhaul and ventilation until released by command. Three additional members stood by in station with Engine 22.

Tree Down, Powells Valley Road (Box 216-8)

Company 22 dispatched class three to Powells Valley Road on the 216-8 box in Jackson Township for a report of a tree down approximately 2 miles from Market Street in Lykens. Chief 22 responded POV and Engine 22 with 3. On arrival a small tree had fallen and was blocking one lane. Crew used a chain saw to remove the tree and then went available.

Tree Down, 6690 Route 209 (Box 23-3)

Company 22 initially dispatched to the area near the Mini Market at 25 Main Street in Lykens for a tree down. Chief 22-1 on location corrected the address to 6690 Route 209 at Kimmels Coal Breaker where the tree was actually down. Engine 22 went enroute with 4. He then placed the box in service with no assistance needed.

Tree Down, Powells Valley Road (Box 216-8)

Company 22 dispatched class three to 260 Glen Road at the Glen Park for a tree down. This was later corrected to Powells Valley Road near the top of the mountain for a tree down. Engine 22 went enroute with 4 and Chief 22 POV and Utility 22 with 4. On arrival crew found a large oak tree down and across the road blocking both lanes. The tree was cut up and removed and the road reopened. Command then placed the box in service.

Medical Assist, 801 Market Street (Box 22-2)

At the request of ambulance 6-1 Company 22 dispatched class three to 801 Market Street in Lykens for a lift assist. Engine 22 responded with 3 and 3 additional members responded POV. On arrival the crew assisted with getting a patient back into their chair, and then went available.

New Municipal Building Opened - Lykens, PA

The new Lykens Municipal Building on South Second Street was opened to the public on February 12, 1938. A dance was held in the ballroom. The building was built at a cost of $32,727. The plans for it were drawn up by architect E.J. Kosier, of Lykens.
2007
Reported Train Fire - Halifax, PA
Detail >>
On the afternoon of February 12, 2007, Halifax and Millersburg fire companies were dispatched for a reported train on fire. After a prolonged search, the train was located in a remote area south of Halifax. Company 29 verified that there was no fire and the units were then placed available.

Trailer Fire - Millersburg, PA

At 8:40 a.m. on February 12, 2007, the Millersburg fire company was dispatched for a structure fire in the 500 block of Chestnut Street. Downed power lines sparked a fire in a trailer and caused several other power related issues around Millersburg. The initial attack crew entered the rear of the structure with a CAFS line and held the fire at bay on the interior, while a second CAFS line was used to knocked down the exterior fire. A dog was rescued from under a bed by Company 21 and 29 firefighters. It was still alert with only minors burns to its paws and underside. The dog was administered oxygen and was taken to a local vet for further treatment. No other injuries were noted and the American Red Cross arrived on the scene to assist the occupants of the trailer.
2008
Vehicle into a House - 7900 Route 25 - Lykens Twp., Dauphin Co., PA

A vehicle accident occurred at 4:40 a.m. on the morning of February 12, 2008. A Jeep Cherokee traveling on Route 25 left the roadway and crashed into a ranch-style home, completely embedding itself in the home's master bedroom. The driver was killed in the accident. A passenger was extricated through the rear hatch of the vehicle and transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
