Fire, Harry Umholtz Store

Fire caused by an exploding oil stove set fire to the residence and store of Harry Umholtz at Coaldale, West of Lykens, completely destroying the structure. The entire stock of merchandise and personal effects were completely destroyed. The loss is estimated at $8,000.
2017
Medical Assist, 519 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 519 Main Street in Lykens for a medical assist on a cardiac arrest. Chief 22 responded POV, Engine 22 with 5, Truck 22 with 5, and Utility 22 with 1. On arrival, the crew started patient care until the arrival of EMS, and then assisted with packaging and moving the patient to their unit for transport to the hospital. Command then placed all units available.
2018
AFA, 300 Chestnut Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 and Engine 23 dispatched class one to 300 Chestnut Street in Lykens Boro at the Alfa Laval Thermal Corporation plant for an automatic fire alarm. Engine 22 went enroute with 3 and was advised that the alarm was a pull station alarm at the rear overhead door, and that a plant supervisor called in to report that there was no fire. Chief 22-2 on board Engine 22 held the box to Engine 22 class three. On arrival, Command met with the plant supervisor while the Engine staged on side A. After clearing the alarm and contacting the plant manager, the box was placed in service.
2018
AFA, 550 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 and Engine 23 dispatched class one to 550 Main Street in Lykens Boro at the Mid Penn Bank for an automatic fire alarm. Chief 22 responded POV to the scene and on arrival, noted a two story bank with normal conditions from the exterior, and he assumed command of the incident. Engine 22 responded with 6, Truck 22 with 7, Utility 22 with 4, and 3 additional members POV. The Truck took side A, the Engine took side B, the Utility went to the intersection of Main and Pine and re routed traffic while Engine 23 stood by at the hydrant at Main and Market Streets. Upon the arrival of the bank manager, she took a crew interior and they checked the first and second floors for issues and found none. After exiting the building Command placed the box available.
2018
AFA, 501 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 and Engine 23 dispatched class one to 501 Main Street in Lykens at the Laundromat for an automatic fire alarm. Chief 22 responded POV to the scene and met the caller who reported that a smoke alarm was sounding from an upstairs front apartment of the two story mixed commercial and rental property. Engine 22 responded with 6 and took the A/D corner, Truck 22 responded with 6 and took side A and Engine 23 responded with 5 and stood by at the hydrant across from the Mid Penn Bank. Crews went interior from the C side, through a window on the D side, and up through an interior stairway to gain access to the apartment. Once inside, a faulty smoke detector was silenced and no other problems were found in the building. Command placed the box in service.
2020
Cardiac Arrest - AED, 120 Maple Lane (Box 24-3)

At the request of EMS Utility 22 dispatched class one to 120 Maple Lane in Williams Township for a cardiac arrest. EMS from 24 and Medic 6 along with Engine 24 were on scene. Utility 22 responded with 4 and 3 additional members responded POV. On arrival, EMS advised that a signal 12 was called and the crew was placed available.
2022
Medical Assist, 15 South 2nd Street (Box 22-1)

At the request of Medic 6 Company 22 dispatched class three to the Rattling Creek Apartments on the 22-1 box at 15 South Second Street in Lykens to provide the Knox key to gain entry to an apartment. Utility 22 responded with the Engine 22 Knox key with 4 and one member responded POV to the scene. On arrival at a 4 story 80 by 60 residential apartment building the crew was advised that the building manager was on scene and gained entry to the apartment needed. Medic 6 arrived moments after the crew and the members assisted them with packaging and removal of the patient to their unit outside. Command then placed the Company available.
