Fire alarm sounded at 7:50 PM. Fire broke out in Fisher's Hosiery Mill on North Street. The company responded with both carts and ladder truck. One stream was connected at Frank Stuppy's. Another was connected at the corner of North and Pine Streets. The water supply was very poor. Properties on the South side of the street, Fisher property on the West side of the factory, M.M. Hoffman property, W.E. Hoffman property, Googhart property, Brush factory and East side of the factory were all completely destroyed. Other properties were slightly damaged. Loss was about $60,000.
Company 23 and Truck 22 dispatched class one to 326 Pottsville Street in Wiconisco Township for an alarm sounding. Neighbor reported hearing a smoke alarm activation somewhere behind the dispatched residence. Rescue 23 went enroute with 3 and on arrival, investigated and found the actual address was 315 Wiconisco Street. Command 23 placed the Truck in service and 23 cleared the event, false trip.
