Truck-22 was dispatched, along with companies 24, 23, and 66, to the Borough of Williamstown on West Market Street for a report of smoke coming from a second floor apartment. Truck-22 responded with a crew of seven, but was canceled while enroute.
2007
Smoke in a structure, 523 East Market Street (Box 24-2)
Companies 24, 23, 22, 66, and Schuylkill 66 were dispatched to a report of a possible kitchen fire, with smoke reported coming from an un-occupied ranch home being remodeled in Williamstown. Truck 22 responded with a crew of seven. Engine 22 was later requested to fill in the box and responded with a crew of two. Truck 22 arrived on scene at the A/B corner, with Tanker 24 on side D, Engines 24 and 23 on side A, and Tower City Engine 66-10, Air light 66-60, Rescue 66, and EMS staged on Market Street below the structure. Initial units on the scene reported that the fire was out. Fire was contained to the area of the stove and cabinets located above it. The truck crew was assigned the task of ventilating the structure. The crew set up a PPV fan and vented smoke out of the entire structure. Damage was minimal, kept to just the stove and a few cabinets. The truck was released after the venting operation was completed.
Company 22 dispatched class one for a report of a smoke alarm sounding at 414 Market Street in Lykens Boro. The property was long abandoned with no occupants. Chief 22-2 responded POV to the scene and met Lykens PD, and heard a smoke alarm sounding in a 1 1/2 story single family wood frame building. Chief 22 responded to the scene as well. Engine 22 responded with 6 and was advised to respond in class three. After making entry, a smoke alarm in the basement was found to be sounding, and was disabled. There was a heavy moisture content in the basement. After the engine arrived and the crew checked the entire building and found nothing, the box was placed in service.
2015
Structure Fire, 1317 West Market Street (Box 24-3)
The 24-3 box was dispatched class one for a report of a trailer roof on fire at 1317 West Market Street in Williamstown. Truck 22 responded with 7 and Engine 22 with 5. Other companies on the box included 23, 24, Schuylkill companies 647 and 650, and 24 EMS. Engine 23 arrived and set up at the B/C corner and went interior. Truck 22 arrived on side A and laddered the trailer. Engine 24 arrived on side B, with Captain 24 as command. The trailer was having a new roof installed and workers struck a live wire with a nail and saw smoke coming out from under the roof, prompting a call to 911. They had the majority of the fire extinguished on arrival. Crews from 23 found no extension inside and the Truck crew checked the roof and confirmed that the fire was out. Command placed the box in service.
While members were training on the carnival grounds, an automatic fire alarm came in for the Lykens Hotel at 600 Main Street in Lykens. Engine 22 responded with 6, Truck 22 with 6, Utility 22 with 1 and Chief 22 POV. Engine 23 also responded to the call. On arrival at a fifty foot by 75 foot brick construction hotel, Engine 22 took the fire department connection on side D, Truck 22 took the C side parking lot and set up, and Engine 23 took side A. Crews went interior and found the building evacuated and conditions inside as normal. The alarm panel had reset itself. Maintenance was contacted and a representative arrived on scene in 20 minutes. Command released all units and remained until the maintenance person arrived. It was determined that there was no emergency and the box was cleared.
Fire destroyed the blacksmith shop of Charles Leininger on Water Street in Williamstown at 4 o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, July 31, 1934. The Williamstown fire company responded and prevented the flames from spreading to nearby buildings. They also held the fire to the front of the structure, which was one-story and one block in length.
